I don't see this one as a sales success, it was for the 360 because of the hardware boost and the attach rate, but it was not for the Star Ocean franchise, a new IP that makes between 100 and 200 first-week is a success, but a Star Ocean main title is above that, actually is more than double what this game sold, if this motivates j-companies then they must see with this example what is the right way to publish a game, is either on the highest-selling console, the Wii (but it has to be a good game, not what Capcom did with Dead Rising), or (if it has to be HD) multiplatform with equal release date... SO4 would have sold more than 400k with combined sales...
