Forums - Gaming - How long do you play a game for you say "I quit!"

I have a pretty nasty habit of forcing myself to finish games I hate. I don't know why.

All though I couldn't finish Medal of Honor: Heroes 2. Yeah the controls are great, but every other thing else about the game was awful. Completely uninspired run here and shoot this war game. You'll get somewhere and a set of enemies show up. You kill them all, another set of the exact same enemies show take their place. You kill them, another set shows up. It feels like every area you have to clear five damn times. And then there's that classic "you're suppose to run past an invisible trip wire to stop the unlimited respawning enemies." Combine that with the awful poorly textured shades of grey, brown, and green that pass as the graphics, subpar presentation even by unispired war shooter standards, and the previously mentioned revolving door of waves of the same enemies, and it feels like you're constantly moving nowhere slowly.

I think I made it to the seventh mission and the power went out. When the power came back it turns out my last checkpoint was about 40 Nazis ago in an area that was already causing me a lot of annoyance. I tried it again and just couldn't stomach so I switched over to the rail shooting arcade mode and tried the same stage. Got to a point where I'm suppose to kill everyone with motars and couldn't get the hang of the poorly explained controls in time and died.

After that I decided to forget the single player and just try the online mode. Turns out you can choose from a few different costumes for both sides. The default ones are Grey for the Axis and Brownish-Green for the Allies, but both sides have alts that look like the other's outfit. Again the lousy graphics make the levels hard to understand, and now they're making it hard to tell whose on my team and whose not. The terrible radar is little help, and I keep getting sniped by some ass whose found a spot at the edge of the stage where he can see of all of us, but we can't see him.

Ugh, at least I only rented it from Gamefly. =P

Depends how bad it is. I put down Resident Evil when they told me I was the master of locksmiths so I would be good at picking locks and they gave me a lockpick and then about 4 seconds later I found a locked door and the game gave me a hint, telling me that since I'm the master of locksmiths and was just given a lockpick about 4 seconds earlier, maybe I should use my lockpick and locksmith-master skills to pick the lock. I've put down several games in under 5 minutes.

But you've.... You've at least played through REmake right? They took that part out, I promise!

I think! ...

Is that the GameCube one?  I played the DS remake, and it still had all that dialogue.  They added a "touch the screen to stab a zombie" minigame thing too.  I still couldn't play it for more than 5 minutes.

Yes I was talking about the GC remake. It was brilliantly done, you should at least rent it and try to play through it. That is by far the epitome of the RE franchise imo.

Hmmm I try to give games atleast a little play before I give my opinion wether I like it and want to keep playing it or wether i will be sold to someone else...usually about 5 Hrs of play ime should tell me....

I got into Oblivion at first but then got bored of the same old fighting mechanics and slow transportation alternatives you have...Example Horse...I know you can click on the map and teleport to the areas but thats not fun :(

Also got pretty far in Far Cry 2...but in the end the same repetitive missions and traveling in the game sucked...so sold it

Around 8h...

That's what it took me to stop enjoying okami, same for every zelda game since ocarina of time, 8 hours for prince of persia too...

But I don't force myself, I stop as soon as I don't feel the need to launch the game.
