I just say 10 because I figure it's a safe number.  I don't remember/care the release dates for all the games and 10 seemed like an OK number.

Agreed. The only downside is that it's so damn hard in parts that it makes the Playstation and PS2 era RPGs look like Sesame Street games. It is very heavily strategic, though, about as much as FFXII is.

I actually welcome challenging JRPGs. This is one of the reasons why the SMT series is my current favorite JRPG series. Atlus just delivers quality and at a much higher rate than the current S-E.

Did Rubang just include FF VI in the mediocre to shit category? Did twesterm just agree with him? Wow. I did not see that one coming.

....Wow Ill admit I thought that XI and XII were bad but Im reserving judgment until I actually Play XIII. Although I must say the days of me buying anything that said Squaresoft/Square-Enix on it were finished after Final Fantasy XII

All I know about FF is that FFVI is a wonderful game. A truly masterpiece.

The last good FF, in my humbly correct opinion, was 15 years ago, in 1994. It was FF6.

The last Square games I played were FF4DS, which was amazing, and The World Ends With You, which was horrible. I just don't think they have the magic anymore. They can't make good new stories. Now their only areas of expertise are graphics, cut scenes, and hype. So it's no surprise that they make good remakes, because they just make them prettier. But they can't make good new games... because making things shiny and pretty is all they're good at and/or all they care about.

I'd rather play ASCII RPGs, which without graphics actually had to rely on gameplay and story. Luckily there are tons of ASCII games I can play for free.
