Forums - Gaming - Why I want Final Fantasy XIII to bomb

Some of the remakes and spin-offs have been quite good, and remember SE is a business not a charity, they need to make money first, gamers come second. Same at Nintendo or Epic or EA. Once again twesterm fails at an epic level. The game is not out and you have not even played it so you cannot say its going to be bad. And saying just because a character is described a certain way is not a valid reason. Neither are delays. Super Mario 128 was delayed so much it didn't even end up existing and became a totally different game. And how many delays did twilight Princess have? Point is you fail harder than a steel barrel of concrete twesterm. Just because you don't like previous FF games doesn't mean they were bad. I disliked FF6 & 7, I still recognize they are great games. So just because you don't like doesn't mean its bad at all. You are such a huge waste of forum space twesterm, you really are. I bet you'll ban me now. Your just like a Hormogaunt.

@ NintendoMan )

agreed

I can only hope my sig once will come true.

@ twesterm )

Hey, if you aren't interested in FF XIII that's totally OK, but to hope it will fail, because it doesn't cater to your personal taste is ... simply pathetic

I guess you just have become to emotionally involved in this matter to think about it rationally.

it better be a good game. 5 years in the making. And I mean showing a trailer in 2005. wtf were they thinking. It better be worth ten years of waiting. Have any other ff games taken this long to shell out?

@ Peterisyum )

they didn't show a trailer in 2005

What!? You want FFXIII to bomb? Why aim low?

I'm all for SE failing. I want them to disintegrate slowly. Let's face it, I'm hating the company now that they've been inconsistent in making games. Their games take too damn long to make.

Story wise 6-8 was my cup of tea. 9 was decent... 10 was boring...

As for the gameplay all were great except 12 which was damn horrid.... I'm thinking I'd hate 13's gameplay.

When a games delayed its indicative of generally one of two things.

1: Said company is waiting until the market gets better (read bigger ps3 install base, its the same reason why not everything is released on BR yet).

Or

2: The games in development hell and its been completely fucked up.

I hope its only the first one. But such major delays are indicative of development issues.

Maybe slightly OT, but why all the hate for FFXII? I personally loved it, it was unconventional and innovative in several ways:

An open world with no artificial distinction between battle arenas and "world map"

The overall story arc sounded more mature and less of the mish-mash of "ultimate evil vs coming-of-age hero discovering his hidden power" that plagues so many games. Plus after a while you could just follow the story at your own pace or indulge in grinding at leisure

The battle system was really new, and moved the strategy from micro-management to setting up global party tactics in the amount the player wanted. Or if you wanted to keep manually choosing each skill and spell, you could. I found it extremely entertaining.

The characters were interesting, as soon as you understood as someone else said, that Vaan (and Penelo) are _not_ the heroes, but little more than plot devices. They do their job of offering the point of view of small people fallen in a story much bigger than them. On the other hand Ashe, Bash, Balthier and even Fran were greater-than-life, with complex backstories and distinct personalities. And even the "villains" were more human, with more interesting motivation than teenage angst and parental issues.

To top it off most of the dialogue was written leagues better than any other FF and the english dubbing was excellent.

I am partly with twesterm.

FFVI is the best RPG ever IMO, but I think FFVII-VIII and IX were good.

X was bad and XII really bad (Again, IMO).

I feel like Benga, I will get XIII because of loyalty for a company that has given me so many great memories in the (distant). But if it stinks too, I am done.

Tales series will be my next favorite (unless they decide to relelase a Suikoden game for PS3\360).

Yes they did, they have been developing FF13 since 2004.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

Funny I think the exact opposite what you do

Like I have said before FFXII is the first FF game that I could beat using 1 hand and blindfolded.

Gambits made the game so easy it wasn't even funny, don't get me started on the last boss( I know it isn't supposed to be the hardest boss in hte game but come on, he died in 5 minutes with me having crappy lvl and equipment)
