Forums - Gaming - Your 3 biggest disappointments of this generation?

1: GTA IV, such hope, such a letdown. I raged for weeks.

2: Console games in general, this gen has been very tedious for me so far, it looks to be going in the right direction but after 2-3 years on the market there should really be more incentive for me to get at least one consoles. I've never adopted a gen this late before and I hope I never will again.

3: The squandered possibilities on the Wii; how many games and devs have made full use of the Wiimore outside of Nintendo themselves? How many great 3rd party exclusives are on this gen's obvious victor platform? Not good enough, not by far.

1. Ninja Gaiden II - The follow up to my favorite game of the previous generation that I found to be extremely boring.
2. Perfect Dark Zero - Bought a 360 at launch after reading Gamespots glowing review. Regreted my purchase until Oblivian (then was pretty happy!)
3. Twilight Princess - Couldn't even finish it.

Bolded part isn't possible...unless your tastes changed. NG2 is a better version of NG1...

What, so you just think I made it up?  Pretty sure its possible, because, in my opinion, it was completely disappointing.  I even replayed the first as Sigma and still loved it, but NG2 was just so...mediocre.  You say NG2 is a better version of NG1, I say NG2 is a watered down version of NG1.

Owner of PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Switch, PS Vita, and 3DS

1. Wii Motion Controls. I was so friggin' hyped up for playing Zelda finding out you'd use the nunchuck as your shield and the wiimote as your sword, but then I came to know the word "waggle" and all hype was lost. Seeing Wii Motiong+ brings back that hype for me though, it's just too bad it couldn't have been implemented from the get go. The wiimote can still be used in really cool ways, don't get me wrong, but it leaves you wanting more.

2. "Next-Gen" console pricing. I bought a Wii first because it was a "reasonable" $270CDN new where as the PS3 was approaching $700CDN upon release.

3. Lack of storage on the Wii. This feature (or lack-there-of) was the catalyst for venturing into the land of the 360 after finally getting fed up of getting the shaft on Guitar Hero World Tour DLC with the Jimi Hendrix pack not being available for DL on Wii....a sad argument for some, but this was the tipping point for me after getting shafted on GHIII DLC and getting an inferior Rock Band version.

Consoles Owned: Atari 2600, NES, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, N64, Gamecube, Wii, XBOX360

I give one disappointment for each console:

1. 360 RRoD
2. PS3 price
3. Lack of effort from most 3rd partly developers

1. Wii- well i thought the wii would be awesome, but it got pretty boring. after pretty much all the games are shit. besides 1st party games.

2. RRoD.

3. PS3 Price of $600, i originally thought PS3 would be $299-$399, so i holded out on buying a PS3, i was supposed to buy mine on the original November 17th 06 release date. but i got my PS3 in November of 07.

Im stealing 2/3s of yours :P

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

- Japanese games
- lack of support for the PSP from western dev
- Still no PSN cards in europe = no PSN games for me = no Wipeout, flower, linger in shadow and LBP DLC for me = WTF ???

Ninja Gaiden 2 doesn't have near as good puzzles or platforming as NG1 did. Other then that, it does everything better. And calm down. Disolitude isn't trying to bite you.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

1. Shadowrun being a lame shooter, not an rpg anymore.

2. Wii's harddrive nuetering VC.

3. Fable 2.

prolly more, but those 3 really bugged me

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.
