Forums - Nintendo - Circuit city: de blob purchase and more

So, like most people, I've been a little tight on cash lately and I've tried my best to not buy things I don't need. However, the US wide closings of all circuit city locations has created quite a bit of temptation. Last week I bought the new 'Roots' album at 40% off (good purchase btw), and this week I had more choices to make.

Knowing that I use netflix and can find most movies fairly cheap (save for special and rare editions), I more or less skipped the dvd section. Most electrics, while heavily discounted, are still slightly unreasonable purchases for a currently cheap bastard like myself. That left me with the gaming department.

I had been eyeing the ps2 controllers last week. It wasn't a must have thing, but if the deal we good enough, I could use a couple replacements. This week, they were gone. Games were now at 50% off. Most marque titles for each system had already been pulled with a couple notable exceptions (Soul Caliber 4). Also, it's worth noting that all games seemed to be marked at initial release prices, so you had to know how much games were really worth (I'll get to that in a second).

So, as a wii owner, I clecked out that section. Let me tell you, it was pretty barren. I managed to snag the last component cable (at 40% off) and then proceded to see if there was a game worth grabbing. I found 4 candidates:

1. Battalion Wars 2: A good game but set at it's launch price of $50 ($25 after discount) and I've seen it elsewhere for $20.

2. Animal Crossing: City Folk: A likeable title but not my thing. Pass.

3. Tiger Woods All Play: Very good title but it's a golf game that hits every August. Meaning, a new release and price drop for this current game aren't far off.

4. (Winner) De Blob: To be honest, I was surprised to find a copy. Seems well worth the $25 (after discount) asking fee.

So yeah. Also, I over heard this kid (maybe 17) talking on the phone to someone. He was asking them whether they wanted Wii Music or Tiger Woods All Play. I didn't wait around for the answer.
