how well would it run bioshock? and if i decided to, how much would a new power supply with this 6 pin thing cost me? lol

$50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817189005

Can run any card up to the HD 4870.

$33 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182074

Can run any card up to the HD 4850 or 9800GTX range.

Both have 5 stars.

@KLucifer

You could spend $70 on an HD 4670 or between $150-200 on an HD 4830 because he'd need a new PSU to run it as well.

Tease.

with either of those better power supplies, what prices range are those cards?

@squilliam

as i said 3800 series is about the same price range that outperforms the 4670...and i mean 3800 series meaning both 3850 and 3870 outperform the 4670....as for the 3850...the 256mb version edges out the 4670 by a hair...but remind you 512mb version ranges anywhere between $60-70 depending on where you buy it...and 3870 is on another level from 4670....for only about $10 difference...

and yes...i said it b4...i said if you want to spend a bit MORE then go for 4800 series...but bottom line is...4600 series are not worth the money...neither is the 4800 series at the moment imo but if you want top of line...then be my guest...

3800 series are probably your best bang for the bucks atm...

Edit: found a 3870 cheaper than 4670 $85

and here is a 3850 512 mb version....which also outperforms 4670 for $70

how does it outperform those that mr kirk there posted? and can i use it on that mobo? and can i use it without the 6 pin thingy?

Hey man, weren't you supposed to buy a brand new gaming PC Sharky?

You even said money was no problem lol. "I have a budget of $2500"

I said that would be in a few months when I am working lol. Right now I have no job and I am trying to just make an old desktop a little bit less crappy lol

go on www.tomshardware.com
they do all sorts of video card testing...find those 3 vid cards and see for yourself....

u'll find those benchmarking testing quite useful...how does it perform better you ask??...i have no idea...all i know is that they just do...take a look at the benchmarks yourself...

as for the power supply line for pci-e...the 3870 requires...i used to own a 3870 myself a while back....but no idea about the 3850...

i would invest in a PSU anyways...it's only $30-50 anyways...the last thing you want to worry about when ur upgrading is needing another updgrade because there's not enough power..

but anyways...looks like you have time...just keep shopping around for now...but go to that site i gave link to...take a look at all the benchmarks...and compare the performance on the site...then go on newegg and compare prices....see which one really is worth it for you....

Well I am looking to do this video and mobo replacement within a month. The entire new computer is something completely different lol.
