Forums - PC - Recommend me some good retro RPG's!

I was about to recommend the Home of the Underdogs website since it was a great place to find old games that were freely available, but they seem to be down, hopefully not permanently.

Stone Prophet and Strahd's possession were fun games. I miss those multi-game packs that TSR used to put out. The 2 Dark Sun games were a lot of fun too (Shattered Lands & Wake of the Ravager).

As for other retro games, I'm partial to the wizardry series and find myself cracking out 7 and 8 every once in awhile.

HoTu is gone, probably forever.

edit: you can check my profile for good 'ol skool pc games.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I also really enjoyed the Quest for Glory series back when, though they weren't exactly what you would call traditional RPG's.

The only teeth strong enough to eat other teeth.

I played Quest for Glory 3 last night, damn near woke my roommates up with the shrill midi sounds!
I got like 50 retro games last night, I'll be in gamer heaven for months.
These old games are just so goddamned playable, you know?
Plain awesome!

I had some problems with Need for Speed though, the first one, graphics are messed up with gay colors bouncing all over, could it be poor VGA/-S-VGA emulation in my GPU?

if you wanna go mid 90s, search for westwoods blade runner game

like a mystery rpg, with the cast from the movie minus harrison ford

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

I recommend Arcanum.

Seriously, play Angband. It's freeware, multiplatform, and a hardcore rpg.

Ah, Crusaders of the Dark Savant is a masterpiece (Wizardry 7).

This thread is making me want to reinstall these games, man they were fun. Crusaders of the Dark Savant was probably my favourite of the lot.

Well, I second ADoM, [Z]Angband, NetHack... nobody's mentioned NetHack yet?

Wizardry, Ultima, Quest for Glory all rock. You could try The Bard's Tale 1-3. The old Bard's Tale games are much more role-playish than the new one.

If you like sci-fi, Wasteland, Fallout or the MegaTraveller games.

Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader -- This game's not very old (2003), but I just discovered it and thought I'd mention it. It's by Black Isle, but I've heard it's not their best work. I don't know, the thought of a Black Isle game I haven't played intrigues me.

Currently playing: Wii Fit / The Sims 3

Try  PrizeRebel , it could make you  rich ! I have  $15.80 USD  so far. I  love  BengaBenga' Most Wante lists.
