I actually wasnt aiming that at any1 on this thread...more towards these so called cool people developing useless technology....maybe this would be a cool TV or something but um Video Games? Never.... Imagine playing GTA using this device lol

It's been done. There was this thing called the eyetoy? Remember how horrible it was.

This can't even be compared to the Wii.
If MS thinks like the OP, it's doomed to failure.
The OP has the very same problem than most Nintendo competitors: they're unable to see the forest, they only see one tree.
It's no use trying to have better technology than the Wii and believeing it will succeed.
I thought at least some of Wii critique would have understood that with graphics: HD may be better than Wii resolution, but it's not enough to outsell the Wii. This is the exact same thing.
And by "same thing" I don't mean the feature (like HD, motion control, ...), but I mean the tree in the forest (technology being better will make me sell more).

The camera will probably not be able to detect motion as good as Wii Remote, at least not as good as Wii Remote with Motion Plus.

If Microsoft took the Z-cam thing, built a controller with accelerometers inside, then maybe they would be closer to do what Motion Plus can.

Sony has been doing that kind of stuff for ages now.

What I want is to fly a plane by sticking my arms out and leaning side to side to turn, like a 5 year old. I also want a headset to let me fire my gun by making gun noises into the mic.

The key difference here is the 'Z.'

This device does a 3D infrared scan, so it can percieve depth. Also, because it's an active scanner rather than a passive detector, it will work regardless of light levels or any other optical confusion which the eyetoy might be subject to.

I'm really curious as to how cheap it is to produce one of these, because it sounds pretty sophisticated.
