Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft purchasing 3dv system - works better than Wii

lol a lot of things work better then what Nintendo has in the wii and ds but a lot of companies are stupid(ie. Microsoft and sony) and haven't figured out that it isn't the technology that makes Nintendo successful.

You have no idea what the Z-Cam is, do you? You just couldn't wait to post something with the words "better than Wii" in the title.

For anyone interested, here's a demo of the Z-Cam from one of the Consumer Electronic Shows. Crappy video, but it gets the point across.

hey i would buy it
if they cut the price of the xbox to $150 and package this with it
they have a small chance of beating the wii
i said small chance

Its not even close to the Wii.

It would work for some types of games - MS could do a convincing WiiSports title for instance.

But with no buttons, and no easy/accurate way of selecting or controlling things on-screen - its only half a solution.

Having to pick up a 360 controller to do 'everything else' wouldn't be that great (otherwise, its basically just EyeToy...)

You mean 0% Chance, don't you? The Wii outsold the 360 by about 14 million last year (Wii =25,200,445 /X360 =11,448,686). If the Wii sold 50% of what it did last year, and the 360 sold 200% of what it sold, (Wii=12.6 and X360=22.9) the 360 would catch the Wii sometime in october 2010! Thats just to catch up!

Even if the 360 went to $150.00 right this instant, and the Wii stayed the same price the whole time, the chances of the 360's sales doubling are 0% and the chance of the Wii's sales dropping by 50% are very unlikely.

Also, I doubt that many people would even pick this up! Not when you know that a new console will be released within the next year or so...

EDIT: Also, the amount of extra money it would cost to package this with the 360, would if anything result in a price increase, not another price drop...

Guitar Hero 3/ Smash Hits

hey there is always a chance that it could outsell it(it was outselling it when halo 3 came out 22:1 i believe) anything is possible
and sony is selling all there consoles at a lost

It *could* be very good, but that's a big *could*.

Microsoft would have to adopt as a global, or near-global solution like Nintendo did with the Wii/Wiimote to have it work properly, and become a good solution for mainstream gamers.

One one end, it's a very good idea. It could simplify the idea of a controller even further than the Wii did, and allow gamers to go either controller-less, or have a much more simple controller than even the Wiimote - maybe a keychain to bring up a pause menu and a joystick to move the POV around.

I'd be very interested in it if Microsoft got it to where you could play an Oblivion-type WRPG without a controller, and merely need to mimic a sword for swordfights, and the like. Otherwise...It wouldn't be that cool for me.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Matt C. demoed this thing at was pretty impressed with it, claiming it out Wiied the Wii. (Wish I had found this video first.)

This happened at the 2008 CES, before Wii Motion Plus was introduced.

Still it looks like really cool, and the people behind seem to have some level of practical solutions behind a lack of traditional interface options. But your point stands Shams about the Wii Remote’s ability to encompass numerous input options in one small device.

People who don’t understand the Wii Remote simply assume motion controls is the only reason why it’s a success. The Wii remote versatility is what makes it truly shine. I aim at the screen I’ve got a pointer. I turn it on its side I’ve got a NES controller. I plug a nunchuck into it and I’ve got a traditional controller set-up. I can stick it in a plastic shell to make it resemble a gun, or steering wheel. Oh, and it has motion controls. And you can combine these different elements in dozens of ways. All in something that looks a remote control.

I like off-beat controllers, and if this Z-cam comes out with something to play at a decent price I’ll probably get one to along with my PS Eye and XBOX Vision Cam. But I doubt I’d find as many uses for it as my Wii Remote.
