Forums - Gaming - OMG! Half-Life 2 got knocked off the gamerankings top10 by bioshock

God of War, while a great game, doesn't deserve to be top 10 and even top 20 is pushing it IMO. It really brought nothing original to the table other than incredible destruction animations as you toppled massive enemies.

Oh, and uttering Half-Life 1 and 2 in the same breath quality-wise is blasphemy. HL1 was an amazing game that changed FPS gaming while HL2 was merely a "good" game.

I saw vids of the gravity gun. The physics were very interesting in the game.

Nah, I ransacked a Gamestop the other day and picked up a bunch of Xbox and PS2 games to keep me busy... I have hardly played the PSP in the last week... Damn, I hate it when I have too many games to play. :D

I'm not dogging HL2, it was a good game but when compared to the innovation behind HL1, almost any FPS would have a hard time comparing. Remember that before HL, online FPS gaming was tiny... Then came CS, DoD, etc. and online exploded, giving us the communities we have today, XBL, and a host of other features we now take for granted. It's one of the few titles out there that permanently changed the face of gaming.

That list is compiled of stupid. What else can I really say?

Certain games that are beloved will never be in the top ten for the dumbest reasons ever. All that really matters to me is my favorite ten games. And right now I can only think of two that would make the list anyway.

Metroid Prime 3 would have a chance but two people already mentioned the biggest flaw it has. At any rate, Bioshock might be good, even great, but come on, this great a game from a genre that packed seems like a bit much.

Halo 3 should just get perfect scores right now and close down the list right? And where is Grand Theft Auto III or Vice City?

Hold on one second.

Half:Life 2 is not simply a "good" game. That statement is downright blasphemy.

Half:Life 2 is everything an FPS should strive to be.

It's beautiful graphically, with a unique art style.

It's gameplay is supurb, everything feels interactive and believable.

But most of all it's the most intelligently (bare with me) put-together FPS ever made.

It's one continuous story, no cut-scenes, no sudden location changes, just a smooth running experience.

The way the game pauses you at certain points,(in a believable fashion) while characters fill you in on pieces of the plot, and give you time to relax, is genius.

Also the way with the introduction of each new weapon your given time to practice with it first (these sorta things alot of people dont notice), by getting you to fight a string of easy opponents, or the practice with the gravity gun, (Alyx in the yard playing fetch) is a masterstroke.

What in your view do you think is a better FPS then it?
