Forums - Gaming - I genuinely think 360 graphics look more realistic than PS3 graphics

While I'm not so sure it's so easy to tell them apart, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it were true. The 360 fanbase has a much stronger fetish for photorealism-uber-alles than the PS3 fanbase, and the developers know this, so it only makes sense that they would have refined their photorealism techniques more on that console.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

"I know my words may be wrong to explain what I am saying but with 360 there seems to be a grittiness that makes them look more realistic."

Lol, PS360 games both suffer equally from being too gritty - ignoring all colours that aren't brown or grey

What are you, 5 years old? Does a game require bright, happy colours to hold your attention? Who the fuck wants to see rainbows and flowers in the middle of a warzone?

What are you, 14 years old? I don't particularly care about seeing rainbows and flowers in the middle of a warzone, but I generally do prefer enough color contrast to actually see what's going on. Camouflage is fine when it's a deliberate game mechanic, but when it's nothing but a side effect of Yet Another Generic Grey-And-Brown Color Scheme it sucks.

IMO its a brightness thing 360 games look brighter then ps3 or vice-versa and any smart person know's u can change your tv settings
but fanboy will argue it to death that brighter is better or darker is better depending on which version they get

The xbox360 exclusives are better looking . The only great looking ps3 exclusive is uncharted and the , not yet released yet ,KZ2. MGS4 looks preety bad , IMO and i'll never understand the praise it gets from some people/media. Gears2 looks like cgi and banjo3 has the best looking and most impressive engine of any console game (too bad the game is crap ). Also ps3 exclusives tend to be totally linear games while some xbox360 exclusives are way more ambitious creating entire worlds (games like mass effect , fable2 , crackdown ) compared to the "corridor" nature of the ps3 exclusives .

Then we have multi games some of which , like bioshock, assassin's creed, RE5 , farcry2 , dead space , more than hold their own against any exclusive for both consoles but since these games look and run better on the xbox360 ps3 fans have chosen to ignore them .

What's "corridor" about Metal Gear Solid 4? You can approach the game in different ways, go stealth, go guns blazing (not very recommended in hard/extreme, though) take sides or not. And you live out exclusives of the 360 like Gears and Halo 3, so those "corridor games" don't bother you?

How about Valkyria Chronicles, Little Big Planet and Warhawk? Is that "corridor" too?

Talk about a guy who doesn't know what he's talking about, just spouting random bullshit on a forum to make himself feel better about owning a videogame console....

First of all why the need for personal insults ? Did i hurt your feelings ?? MGS4 is a corridor game .LBP is a....2d game and has no place in this discussion whatsoever . Warhawk doesn't even have a single player mode. Of course gears is a corridor shooter , where did i imply otherwise ?? Oh and DMC4 looks AND runs better on the xbox360 .

YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOO WRONG, IMO

??? Ok. I see now, yeah, you're absolutely right. Eh, no. Please refer to my prior comment, specially the word you found so characteristic of yours. You're full of that, I just call it like I saw it, nothing personal.

Am I the only one who thinks realistic graphics are not necessary better graphics?

Of course I love to see great graphics like Gears2, but there are some games that just amaze me without being perfectly realistic. My personal game 08, Fable II, looked great IMO. It is not a graphical overkill but the style was unique and simply beautiful.

This still looks great. The atmosphere is great. It is not perfectly realistic but beautiful nonetheless. Of course, RE5, Gears or Killzone look great, without a doubt, but this graphics made me happy. I am fine with the graphical performance of the Xbox360. Alan Wake looks promising as well. It is total nonsense to talk about which might look slightly better (MGS / K2 / GoW2/ RE5 etc) For me, Star Ocean is looking great, too. It is not realistic at all, but the style looks superb.

So all a matter of taste I would say.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I disagree with you reask. But when it comes to discussion about superior graphics, especially among the HD consoles, you can say that it is a very subjective observation. As far as realism goes, I have never seen a game on consoles that looks as realistic as Killzone 2 and Uncharted. I still think that MGS4 has the best looking graphics of all though. That is saying a lot considering when Uncharted was released.

Mind you they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am running both consoles on the same TV though.

DirtyP2002 - I agree with you on the fact that more realistic graphics do not necessarily mean better graphics. That is why I think that you cannot truly call the graphics of the 360 or the PS3 games "better". They are faaar to close for such a call.

@OP

It's a little thing in the mind called "360 fanboy" that prevents one from seeing things clearly. Itis sometimes really difficult to adjust.

Your opinion is based on looking at both of the consoles? Lol not trying to troll but thats what the last sentence of the OP said :P
