I think it might be that brett (rightly so) uses official bits of past sales data for the old systems.... which means if there is no sales data, only shipment data, then it isn't shown as having any, or the correct sales.
We can be pretty sure almost 100% of shipments will have sold for things like NES (some discrepancies being if any games are broken in transit, or when a game is no longer being shipped, the 3 companies will take back some unsold stock... but it won't amount to anything significant)
