Forums - Nintendo - if the vc games cost less, would you spend as much as you spent now?

when the wii first came out, there was some backlash that the vc games were overprice and they should have been a lot less. there were some people saying they should have made it something like nes $1 each, snes $2 each, and n64 $4 each. since then, the complaints have really died down, iand i don't think i've heard anybody complain in a year or so.

so i just have a question. if the vc games cost a lot less, would you spend just as much money as you would have if they were like they really are, due to buying lots of games your were simi-interested in, but didn't have the money or thouht it wasn't worth it.

for me personally, there are loads of games on there i would buy if they were just a little less, so i wouldd probably use up even more wiipoints then i have up until now.

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=47568

I would actually spend a lot more most likely. I'll use this an example of how I would spend more money. Say there are three NES games that I'm interested in but only one that I know I reall want. So now, I would probably just buy one for $5. If they were more like $2 or $3, I'd probably buy all three which would be anywhere from $6 to $9. I'd also take a lot more chances on other games too. This is also especially true on SNES games. I don't want to take a chance on a game if it costs $8 or buy a game I already had even though it's difficult to play the old version which would require me to bring out the old system, unhook something else from my TV, find a power outlet, etc just to play a game and be nostalgic.

I don't think the games should be free and I don't think they're overcharging but I do think they could sell enough games at lower prices to make up the difference. And I certainly wouldn't mind the lower prices. I know I'd buy a lot moe NES, SNES, a few N64 titles of the few available. I'd also be interested in the non Nintendo console games like Turbo, Sega Master and Genesis along with NEO GEO. As it is, I've only bought one non Nintendo game and only am considering a few others.

I'll come up with something better eventually...

They should have demo versions of certain games which are good, but current buyers wouldn't recognise the franchise or developer. SSBB worked in this way and I'm sure it's got them a few sales, but it's not the main Nintendo games that need to be promoted.

i woulda spent less

i have maybe 35 of em

problem is never money, its the idiotic nintendo hard drive space situation

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

ya, they could have a demo of the vc games that let's you download the game, but you can only play it a few minutes before it shuts off. (it was way to short in ssbb, you didn't have time really to try it. i'd say 5 minutes would be good, and they would somehow let it force load a save that automatically puts you in some level, stage, ect that you can play in.

If they were that much cheaper, I would have spent less. The limiting factor would be time rather than money.

Same. God knows how many games I have time to play.

I spent the same, and buy more games.

Considering I don't have a single VC game... probably not.

there are demos of these games, called emulators ;)
