playable (atleast for the first playthrough - no idea whether or not you can unlock Crowe and Welch as playable characters) are 4 boys and 5 girl - but at most you have 3 boys at a time and 8 characters to choose from at a time

I see, damn so its not Equal like Star Ocean till the end of time then eh? if i recall correctly, SO3 had an Equal Cast of dudes and chicks.

It's a harem. All the guys who look 12 years old get twice as many girls who look 10 years old.

Well, if I recall you can decide the room assignments, each room is worth two characters, and there's your choice of standard japanese fetishes.
