Mass Effect falls is arguably the best existing WRPG of this gaming generation.  Any gamer that enjoys RPG's has a toss up between Bioware's epic, Fallout 3, Fable 2 and Oblivion for that title.

Today, the first trailer for Mass Effect 2 struck.  It asks more questions than it answers, providing evidence that Commander Sheppard may be dead.  As you will see in my second post, I disagree. 

Below are two of the first wallpapers of the game.  Neither are screenshots but appear to be artwork.  One depicts a spacestation-like facility or planet surface that I personally am betting is Omega, a sort of capital-like area in the Terminus systems (systems beyond Citadel/council control).  However, it could just as easily be the Citadel itself.  The second depicts a very lush, green environment that appears to show a sunken/run-aground ship being used as a base or gathering ground.

I'm going to go right ahead and bet that this is Earth.  Yes, I believe that in Mass Effect 2, we will be playing Commander Shepard and will travel too Earth for the first time.  I think we will go there to chase Cerberus.  For more information on them, see my second post.

Here's a theory:

The website is in the format of a Cerberus database. For those who have read the Mass Effect novels like I have, it is known that Cerberus' tentacles spread far and wide and that their goal is human domination of the galaxy.

Unfortunately, their methods are often at odds with the methods of the Alliance, and sometimes counter-productive to human interests. It is quite possible that Shepard or someone in the Alliance has faked the commander's death so as to make Cerberus think they are dead.

There are many possible reasons why this would be necessary, particularly if Cerberus wanted Shepard dead, or if Shepard was trying to infiltrate the organization.

In fact, the whole "known alien associates" thing supports that theory. If they're monitoring Shepards alien allies to closely it highlights their mistrust of everyone that isn't of human descent.

This makes me want to purchase the books. I totally agree with the OP though. This gen, Mass Effect is truly the best out of the console WRPGs. Subjective, but it's my belief.

How do you rate the books? Are the pair of them worth ten bucks?

well that's a really valid idea actually i like it, however its unnecessary to say my theory is desperate or fails at this point speaking honestly we both don't know. I'm just going by Bioware's reluctance to say ME2 will not be PS3

You can get the two of them for $10?

I paid $50 Australian ($35US) and I would have paid double that if necessary.

One is a prequel too the first Mass Effect game that really shows how humanity came to have influence in the galaxy and on the Citadel and also why other species aren't too fond of us. It all shows us where Saren went bad.

The other one has a strong focus on Cerberus, biotics, and the Quarians, and I feel it's setting us up for a Mass Effect 2 that focuses on Cerberus to a much larger extent, and takes us beyond Citadel space too the Terminus systems (Omega in particular) and most interestingly, onto the Quarian fleet.

I apologise, I was probably too harsh.

But if you feel that the reason the game might go to PS3 is because of Bioware's failure to say it wont then say so.  I don't think the storyline highlighted in this trailer, even if it was true, would have anything to do with it.

its cool i wud probs have reacted the same way if you said GT was going multiplat lol but like I said I could be wrong its just a theory that I wanted ppl to disscuss

note I'm not a gamming company law expert so i might be wrong but i know from doing a lot of work with the military and private company's and corporations that if Microsoft and Bioware at one time sit down and came up with a project (which they did) and decided they was going to make a RPG space game called Mass Effect and that game was to be a series and that series would be for Microsoft only, then by international law when EA bought Bioware up EA is bound by law to observe the contract if Microsoft can prove they had a binding contract with Bioware. so the idea that EA is a multi platform company there for EA can make Mass Effect for other platforms isn't quite so simple.

so i think the hole thing with the no XBox logo would probably mean EA has told Bioware not to put a logo on it cause EA is the one in negotiations with Microsoft to try and make it a multi platform game. now EA could say we own Bioware now so if you wont let us make it multi then we wont make one at all but since I'm assuming EA didn't dissolve the company called Bioware then Microsoft could pull out the contract again and say no there is still a Bioware and we was going to make 2 or 3 of these and its in the contract so ether dissolve Bioware or they have to make our game (for how ever many it was meant to be) then after that it could go multi.

so as long as i play it that's fine with me but i think people might fine whether you like Microsoft or not or Sony or Panasonic for that matter there are laws that protects Microsoft in this matter.

Woooowww, i am really exited about this, i have beat the game 3 times and i cant get enough of it. Cant wait until november.
