im simply mocking halogamers fish metaphor, and yes some people with disabilitys can work, great for them, but some dont have the support needed to do so, etc..

thats not what i was saying at all, i was mocking the initial metaphor, but i would argue that some people dont have the skills to do some jobs and some people have medical conditions so extreme that they cant work or at least cant do certain jobs, also some people may not want to fish, they may want to be a nurse or lawyer or something

Yes there are some, and I've seen a person with paralyzed legs take up sewing for a living, etc just to help their family put food on the table.
But phobias can be overcome, and definitely so can laziness.
I just don't see it as proper excuses.
Also, how is that mocking halogamer's metaphor, it just seems really random, haha.
Alright now folks. No use arguing over me.

Oh I get it. You took the saying literally...
Learning to fish is suppose to be a metaphor for a way of life, a way of living, a way to put food on the table, etc.
It doesn't literally mean fishing. haha

i was pointing out that his metaphor was simplistic and ignorant of the whole picture, the other thing to mention with employment is the fact that there are a finite number of jobs so even if someone wants to fish, theyre maybe no more fishing jobs available, to me this is why we the government should look to create lots of new jobs in all sectors and why we should encourage creativity as people can then become writers, artists or musicians
The saying goes:
Give a man a fish he eats for a day,
teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.
It's either give the people something like foodstamps, or set them a path to a new career. That's why I found it weird that you said "[what if they don't want to struggle because of their personality, they're disabled or they're scared]"
Becoming writers, musicians, lawyers, nurses, etc, is actually included in teaching a man how to "fish".

oh i see, my point is this, if people for whatever reason cant find a job, we should help them till they find one, we should also aim to make sure that if someone wants to pursue career A,B,C,D,E,F,G, etc.. they should be able to
Just so you know that still includes teaching a man how to "fish".
Basically, I think Halogamer's point in saying that is he wants people to be more responsible and industrious and find a way to be able to feed themselves, such as fishing. Not just rely on someone else to give them fish.
And I think we are way off topic, so I'm off.
Nice talking to ya.
