Forums - Nintendo - Dead Rising Wii flops in Japan, no reviews yet. Does Capcom know it's crap?

All I'm saying is Dead Rising isn't the best port. We can all see that. It also isn't the worst game to hit the system. That's it. If you don't like it fine. If you do like it fine. But don't turn it into anything it isn't. That's just what's right and you know that. And if you don't then something is wrong. We all know my stance on the game but I don't make it a necessity to force it upon others. Have yall tried that recently?

You're right. You said we shouldn't be judging the sales of the game until 3-4 months have passed because Wii games have a tendency to have legs. My points were just to show that if this game turns out how everyone thinks it will, this game will not have the necessary ingredients required to attain good sales on the back end. The game cannot have good legs without good word of mouth, and at the moment, good word of mouth is looking to be more impossible to attain for this game day after day.

Not everyone thinks the game will turn out that way. Don't presume everyone thinks like this group. If everyone did, Okami would have been a blockbuster on both its systems.

Actually you were saying there's nothing surprising about how the game turned out, and that people were just whining about downgraded graphics.

Or maybe I completely misread your rant.

Yes I believe you did which isn't surprising considering your responses.  It's okay I'll show you what you misread:

"downsized a lot from the 360 version"

That's what I said becuase knowning it would go to the Wii people had to expect they weren't going to get the 360 game with wiimote control.  Maybe you don't feel this way and you feel like I do: just didn't like Dead Rising to begin with.  Or mainly your like another minority and just don't like the feel of the games.  That's fine to.  But the majority are complaining about the downsizing part which I find very hypocritical considering the slogan is always about the controls right.  Yet then they have the nerve to criticize EA for doing the exact opposite on Dead Space.

Personally we are probably agreeing on what we are trying to say here.  My problem is with hypocrisy and complaining from Wii gamers.  Yours seems to be with lazy developers.  I think Capcom didn't do as good of a job as they could have done.  I also think they made a game that was decent and not on the level of Data Design quality.  That's what I've been saying.

I haven't seen many people from Capcom say anything like that except Sven.

For people who supposedly complain they sure seem content with putting games like RE4 and MH3 on Nintendo systems.

RE4 is a port and MH3 probably cost Nintendo a shitload of Saki, karaoke and Yen. Like i said in another thread MH3 is probably going to be the most expensive 3rd party Wii title yet.

Meant the GC version, which was the superior version last gen.

Are you kidding? The PS2 version was much better than the Gamecube version!

I hope you are joking.

Don't forget all the extra's the PS2 version got;.

"Plus this is a WII GAME. Why do you people ALWAYS FORGET you can't use opening sales?

Now the game could still sell poorly (as Okami unfortunately did), but claiming it dead on the first day?

I don't care if you hate it. That's outright ignorance of a pattern that has shown up again and again."

So what exactly were you trying to say if you were not trying to tell us that the game would sell better on later days ?(ie : have legs)

See the bolded word? That's not the same as "would".

It has bad press and bad forum talk almost entirely. On this site, you're probably the only person I've seen even give this game a chance. I'm sure there are people out there that think differently. What I'm saying is, if my version of things play out, which means bad reviews, bad press, bad word of mouth all around on forums, which is a realistic possibility and a likely one, do you feel the game will still acquire good legs? Am I missing another demographic that will not be persuaded by those turn of events that have considerable interest in this game?

And the bolded part was what I was commenting about.

As there is no such pattern for Japan sales of  Wii third parties titles.

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

That's a lie. I listed some. Did you choose to ignore that post?

"It has bad press and bad forum talk almost entirely."

No, you just think it's almost entire.

No, you just think it's almost entire.

Here is your list :

Rayman Raving Rabbids : total sales 20k ( ok it was still selling 1k units/week after a few weeks, I know CRAZY LEGS)

We Ski : 140K ( Week 1 were 22k, dropped bellow 10k pretty fast)

Umbrella Chronicles : 280k ( 109k first week, 50% of total sales in 2 weeks, what legs ?)

Cooking Mama  : 50k ( sales bellow 2k starting week 5, bellow 3k week 2).

So I might give you We Ski, I'm not sure what the others are doing on your list..........
