To be the Devil's advocate, perhaps he means the lower end PS3 being less than the elite. They are both $399 currently in the USA. I cannot speak for other regions, but he could mean if the PS3 drops its price without an equal drop for the elite or if the lower end PS3 can drop to around 360 Pro levels . Also for people saying how hard it would be to do in 2 years, he does state that as an at least statement, so maybe he doesn't feel it to even be that likely. Just possible.

it really depends wat MS does price wise this year if there even will be a price cut
im pretty confident that the ps3 well C a 100$price cut b4 this year ends if MS doesnt answer tell next year than the ps3 can give the 360 a run for it's money

Unless PS3 is $199.99-$249.99, I dont see it outselling 360 or Wii.

(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

You know, I don't beat Patcher up as much as many others do, but I'd have to agree more with your assessment than his.  I often wonder if this continued feeling that the PS3 MUST pass the 360 eventually is based more on his initial projections for this gen and less on the unpredictable nature that has proven to be reality.  Without anything major, and I mean MAJOR, it just wouldn't make sense to think that any consoles will change place this gen.

Anyway, I love how to him a price advantage is the same price, as if Sony only needs to be at the same level to look as attractive to consumers. Can't wait til we get to see that theory in action.

It will take the lead when MS decides to kill the 360 by releasing the 720. This gen is over in terms of who holds what place over all.

I guess nobody told him that PS3 is losing ground on 360 and has since September. The PS3 has not gained back a single console on the 360. Before the PS3 can over-take the 360 it needs to match sales week by week then surpass it. Seeing as it is dropping at 25%+ yoy that would suggest to me that the PS3 will need a price cut just to match the 360 numbers let alone over take them. Pachter is so wrong so many times it is an industry joke.
