Forums - Gaming - Playing through Chrono Trigger for the first time (DS version, obviously)

I knew I'd love this game.

First impressions

The battle system is variated with each encounter.  Plenty of different combinations to try out in different situations make each battle feel different.  Although while many battles are variated, you get into battles in the same spots everytime; while you can expect them which is good, you have to face the same battle each time you go past it.  I really like the base line in the musical pieces and the multitude of percussion instruments being played.  I've just gotten past the part where *spoiler*..................

Crono Dies for a brief period of time, at least according to what's been said.  I'm guessing he will return somehow.  The pacing is very fluent, although it seems to be perfectly steady instead of having the big moments really blow you away in execution, but the big moments are very good nonetheless.  The only major complaint I have is that during some battles (including some boss fights), the menu will block out some enemies I'm facing to where I can't tell if my attacks are doing that much damage, any damage or if the enemy is gaining hp.  All-in-all this one's definitely a keeper :)

ill really have to play this gam ppl talk a lot about this

Try playing the DS mode. You can still control fights with the D-pad, but it entirely clears up the top screen.

Glad you're enjoying the game.
