Forums - Gaming - GC *Spore* to be on 2(!!!) consoles. Rumor has it that...

I don't think I like this logic very much. What we seem to know is:

1) Spore will be on two consoles.
2) One of these is the Xbox360.

I'm going to point out that 95 percent of the time thus far, when the Xbox360 has a game and that game is ported to another console, that console is the PS3.

Agreed, although there is some possibility it will be 360 and Wii, it seems unlikely.

Is there a SINGLE game that's 360 and Wii but not PS3?  Or PS3 and Wii but not 360?

There are probably 50-100 games that are 360 and PS3 but not Wii.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

The biggest problem with developing it on the Wii would be the small size of the internal memory, but then again the Core version of the 360 doesn't have any. Of course this might be another one of those "HDD required" games. =/

The graphics don't look like anything the Wii can't handle, and it doesn't seem like there are that many things on the screen at once, so there shouldn't be any other major technical limitations.

 Table Tennis says "hi!"...

I think even if EA decided to come in and do a wii and 360 version without a PS3 one, Sony would step up. This game probably wouldnt be big on PS3, but it has symbolic significance, so i think Sony would simply pay to have a port made

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Not on topic, but does anyone really think this game will turn out well? Sure it's innovative, but sometimes that's a bad thing, I don't think this game will work.

depending on the kind of marketing they use, and if the extremists don't try and fight the game, i'm sure this game will do good, especially if it is marketed casually.

hmm.. what happened to the whole "Spore will be on cell phones, handhelds, and next-gen consoles"?

Well no matter what it will be on the PS3 and 360. I still want to see them port it to the DS and PSP and make up excuses for way it cant go onto the Wii.

Yeah, I agree even though Wii's controls are a fit for the game, I'm pretty sure it will only be on 360(guranteed) and PS3(99% chance).

I was pretty sure a DS version was announced as well.

What about Rockstar presents: Table tennis.

Or Bully: Scolarship edition?!... Both are X360 and Wii... And NOT PS3... And yes... Both are from Rockstar! One of the most important (almost exclusive) PS2 developers there was.

THE NETHERLANDS

"Maxis has confirmed that there are plans to develop a version of Spore for consoles - but said it won't be released alongside the PC and DS versions."

So the other one is not DS. And I don't see "next-gen" anywhere, so it could be that it's PS2.

How will they make the core game without a hard drive? Hm.
