 He might consider that if you'd submit to him a 800-1000 word essay explaining how any of those games deserve those sales.  Aside of that, it is true that there is no defining taste in games.  Opinions differ greatly, but you can however argue quality.  It doesn't take a genious to realize the example the OP gave is parrallel to the current music industry.  Can you honestly tell me that Britney Spears, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Soulja boy, the All-American rejects and several others of this generation are even close in quality to the likes of Led Zepplin, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Tool, Metallica and Queen?

Note: If anyone is going to answer this question don't humor me by saying "yes".  Tell me why you actually believe that.

You know, one of these days I should do a critical review of one of those games, just to see if there might actually be a fun game buried beneath the girl-friendly appearances. Hm, maybe once one of them drops to $10 or less...

I get it that child play these kind of games.
My 10 year old girl friends played games like FF 7 at that time.They actually made me interested about FF.
I played games like Mgs so don't go on that these sales are reasonable because kids buy them.
I just hate these games.Its like most of humans hate Britney Spears,but still its albums sell millions...Vs music like hmm Metallica.
But I don't care,these games just make me puke.
Yea I haven't tried these games.

Maybe its because these games don't have SOUL.
