Forums - Microsoft - 2009 games - or the lack thereof.

Am I the only one becoming concerned about the number of (exclusive) titles MS have announced for this year?

Whenever I bring this up people always tell me that the exact same things were being said at this time in 2008 - but thats not strictly true, by this time last year we knew about ninja gaiden 2, fable 2, too human (with gears 2 heavily rumoured) - currently we know of......Halo 3: ODST, which isnt even a full game , oh and ninja blade (woo...).  And with no GDC keynote this year to announce anything - So that leaves E3.  Remember what "game announcements" we got at E3 last year? lips? you're in the movies? I think you see were I'm coming from.

Dont get me wrong I would love to be proven wrong at this stage - but here lies a fundamental flaw in MS's gaming devision. Whereas sony is getting its fans excited about the year ahead with streams of media on several games, MS is leaving their fans wanting. I've heard aaron greenberg talking in interviews about "underpromising and overdelivering"; well there isnt a halo or a gears lined up for this year, so they're going to have to SERIOUSLY overdeliver.

Many 360 owners will look at the 09 lineup for the 360, and look at the 09 lineup for the PS3, and may well end up picking the latter up. I'm sure this isnt what MS wants to happen.

wait for gdc

We can keep talking about this, but the fact is we have to wait till E3 and that other event is done (whatever its called) before we judge the exclusive list this year...

Maybe we won't get as many games as we hope, but right now just enjoy the games we got now and releasing soon...and worry about the rest later...

EDIT: dsister44 listed the other event I forgot...

They aren't keynoting at GDC (as far as we know) - How can they announce anything.

and there is no way on earth they are going to announce MAJOR titles for this holiday at E3, there wouldn't be enough time to build hype and excitement for such a game's release.

Peter is going to be doing a keynote at GDC with 2 new titles, neither of which is likely to release this year. Mass Effect 2 will also be at GDC. Where did you see that Microsoft isn't doing anything at GDC?

So halo wars doesn't exist?

Wait, for E3 it is supposed to big again this year, so we gonna hear a lot news, Alan Wake, GOW3 release dates, etc.

Mass Effect 2 is EA, it's also a 2010 title (and may even be PS360)

http://www.gdconf.com/conference/keynotes.html  There's no greenberg, no mattrick - no nothing. (for referance at this time last year MS's had confirmed its presence at GDC)
