WRPGS were best when they were turn based.

Fallout 1&2 rule.

While JRPGs are more stagnant than their WRPG counterparts, saying they haven't progressed at all is unfair. FFXII, despite its flaws, was a vastly different experience than FFVII. Even Blue Dragon added some very cool features that made it different than any other JRPG I've ever played. Lost Odyssey was a massive disappointment, though.

And thanks for reminding me that I still need to buy TWEWY. I'm kinda ashamed that I still haven't played that game... Maybe next week I'll pick it up. I need something to get me back in while I wait for RE5.

Atleast Lost Odyssey had a (mostly) adult cast.

So what? If I feel like I'm playing a graphically updated FFVII-VIII, I'll get bored and stop playing after awhile. I've been there, done that too many times.

And LO had its fair share of annoying children. Let's not forget that. Personally, I thought BD was kinda charming in a kitschy Japanese way.

To answer the OP, no - not at all. In fact, more RPGs are coming to consoles than ever before and it is fantastic.

Compared to other childen characters in RPGs, Cooke and Mack actually weren't that annoying, especially compared to Maromaro.

No, they're not a niche on consoles.

Tales of Ten is going to explode and outsell Final Fantasy 13 in Japan. Just wait and see. RPG's should begin to take off in 2010.

I'd love to make a bet that Final Fantasy 13 will double Tales of Ten lifetime sale in two weeks.

Exactly, i'll take that bet too...

Pokemon is the biggest RPG series everywhere, Dragon Quest is the 2nd in Japan and Final Fantasy is the 2nd in the West/3rd in Japan, Tales is what??? behind Kingdom Hearts and Monster Hunter??? hey i love the Tales series, but they are not near the 3 huge ones...

Glad to see more folks excited over RE 5! I really liked the demo (only tried the 360 version) despite some minor issues, it seems like a terrific co-op experience!

I'm thinking he was sarcastic.  Though with this site who can tell.

I've just recently had two people tell me with a serious face they think PS3 can sell 100 million.

Ok not a serious face... but they believed it.  Unless Mike B is the most brilliant parody account ever.
