Forums - Gaming - Street Fighter IV: best fighter this gen, maybe ever?

This game looks great. I don't know if it has the replayability though. I may only rent it, or wait till it drops in price or I can get it used to buy it.

Assuming Smash Bros Brawl occupies a separate genre called Brawler, that is soon to receive the 4th game in the genre, then you may be right

BengaBenga, I would pass on the game if I were you unless you're willing to buy an exrta controler for this gamer. If you're playing on the 360, you're going to need either a stick or a third-party controller. That's something you keep in mind if you're on the fence about buying this or not.

this is exactly why i'm holding off on the game until i get a ps3 or a good 3rd party controller

Was the biggest Street Fighter fan ever. But never enjoyed it using a D-Pad as much as at the arcades where I was King of the World in SF2 Championship Edition.

Think time of SF has passed for me though. Downloaded 2 versions on virtual console and didn't enjoy them a 100th as much as before and this would be the same. Actually this would be much worse cause I hate all the special moves & combos they added which turned this into close combat game and on top of that would be using a 360 control pad which would mean Ryu& Ken moves would be impossible.

You might want to take that up with my boss.

^ the plywood walls are pretty retro. for a second i thought your desk was made of the same material, too.

i hope it's the best fighter this gen... first of all because i love my street fighter and secondly this game has already cost me the price of a console. $220CAN for the TE joystick and probably $120 for the CE game (which has arrived at the canadian ups today... yay).

it's hard loving street fighter.

Soul Calibur was and is amazing. I kiss you dreamcast

Damn, wasn't planning on getting this at all, since I don't like fighters that aren't SFII, but I feel the hype is getting to me. And it's StreetFighter of course!

Shame for the lame 360 D-pad though...

I suggest renting it if you're not gonna get the controller as the game can still be fun with the 360 pad against the computer. I picked up the Ken pad and while its pretty good, the Sega Saturn pad still is king.

Otherwise the game has a pretty fun arcade mode with a very cheap boss. Unlocking characters is fun...but the game reeks of Street Fighter deja vu. If you've been out of the series for a long time you will enjoy it a lot. For me, who has played them on a weekly basis since 1993...I am wondering what the fuss is about.
