Forums - Gaming - Street Fighter IV: best fighter this gen, maybe ever?

I checked metacritic just then and was shocked to see a 95 for the PS3 version and a 94 for the 360 version after about 20-30 reviews each. I haven't seen a fighting game get this much acclaim since Tekken 3 in '99 (one of my favourite games ever).

Some of the quotes had me foaming at the mouth.

So has anyone played it yet? Is it that good? I may have to buy this...

had a chance to check this out last week at the launch party. looks and plays AMAZING. can't wait for ti!

Its not the best figher ever but its great.

I got it saturday afternoon and have played it quite a bit since. SF3:3rd strike is still a more balanced fighter even if it isn't user freindly. I've noticed some cheap stuff in SF4 that should be fixed. (Overpowering Boss characters, Zangiefs throw range...)

The thing about capcom is that they usually make updates to their fighters.

SF2 and Super street fighter 2 turbo are drastically different games.

SF3 and SF3:Third strike are also very different.

So we may get patches here that will make it in to best fighting game ever.

As far as reviews go, I think this is just the gaming review community trying to bring the street fighter to the main stage after so many years of neglect. This is not a "ZOMG 10/10" fighter at all. Also, its very barebones compared to some other fighters in recent memory when it comes to features.  2 on 2 tag mode would have been nice...

It's not the best ever, but it's the best this generation so far.

I'm not sure if I'd be giving it scores like 9.5, though.

You must have missed out on the Soul Calibur hype.

I can't wait to pick this game up. Street Fighter IV will own me.

Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.

no way king of fighters all the way n_n

To add to my previous post.

I see how someone that hasn't played fighting games in the early 90s could see this as the ebst fighting game ever. Its fun with tight and timeless gameplay.

It however plays 60% like SF2 and 30% like SF3. The other 10% is new... which for people that played those games to death, it may not be enough to justify the hype.

I haven't played it yet. But as soon as I get home from work it will own me.

Ahh, Darc, you got the 360 version. I wanted to play you.

:(

SC was '98, was it not?
I meant that as in Tekken 3 was the last fighter to review this well.
