“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

This is a real delicate gray area. If items are not being sold, it is difficult for someone to get them legally.

Related to this, since no more are being sold as new, no additional monies are going to the publishers, developers, etc., if the game is bought. So getting these games is not taking money away from those who made them.

From a strict legal perspective however, the DL-ed copies are illegal. And buying used is not the same as piracy -- as some here have tried to make it out to be.

As time goes on, this issue takes on decreasing importance. However, I feel that reasonable efforts should be made to legally acquire the games and/or replace games acquired through non-traditional means.

In other words, if you have copied a hard-to-find game and see it in a store -- you should buy it (or forfeit the copy).

PS -- What is the GC's regional lockout situation? Can it play any games or would the OP need PAL from UK/EU if he could not find them in AU/NZ?

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Homebrew != Pirating

Homebrew = LOSE

It's pirating, which a nice word for stealing. Homebrew is also responsible for Mario Kart hackers who are complete tools as well. I hope that a hacker or two is reading this. *Flips bird to piraters, hackers, and homebrew*

Wave Racer is for sale. You can buy it but you don't want to. I couldn't find the other games on Replay Games. Gamestop online doesn't seem to sell used GC games (I couldn't find any of those, at least). There isn't a version of Amazon.com for you.

If you cannot buy a game, I guess it's not so bad. However, it was very easy to find Wave Racer. I checked the 1st place most people would look and found it.

We will not have discussions talking about the specific games we have pirated. It's not happening. If you pirate, then go ahead and do it. Just shut the fuck up about it. We don't need threads gloating over something illegal you are doing, regardless or your moral reasons.
