Why does anyone shop at GS....? A-M-A-Z-O-N!

I like them I have had no problems with them other than they give really bad trade-in value for games.

For example: ICO trade-in $10 and they will then sell the game for $25 or so.

Seems pretty ripped off in my opinion. I just learned to never trade my games in to them and just buy used games from them. Because they have some good deals on their used games section.

The main reason Gamestop is running is due to their used game section.

I got tired of them a long time ago!

Nintendo still doomed?

id say ONLY because of the used game section... do you know how many BITTER GS employees ive spoken to? lol its kinda funny actually, i live in nyc, the employees make next to nothing and are now REQUIRED to push pre-owned games FIRST (my local gamestop at least) i had an employee totally go off on how much he had "made" for the company (supposedly $10,000 that week) and the next to nothing pay they get... they dont look out for their employees... GS might just vanish one day though or at least the vast majority of locations, downloadable games is the future

i went to gamestop about a few weeks back, looking to purchase bioshock for ps3, i went up to the lady at the cashier asked for the game and she immediately told me that she was gonna find me a pre-owned copy (i never asked for one) so i tell her "no i want a NEW one" (why? its a game that they sell new for $39.99 but buy pre-owned for about $8 store credit, but re-sell at $35 cash, $27 profit for a used game) she looked at me strange and i said "yes i know im stupid like that". idk bout you guys but id rather pay the extra $5 for a NEW copy.

I can agree that would be annoying. It's not always the case though. Many games I have interest in get discontinued and Gamestop has an easy avenue of obtaining such games that cannot be purchase new any longer in their used section.

@dsister44-Just go to another Gamestop, a more friendlier one and buy another used copy. Swap the discs, and tell them they sold you a borken copy. Get your money back. I've done this in the past and never been refused once.

@jpespinal

That completely sucks//I know someone I work with at the hospital he has a part-time job at my local Gamestop. He only works one day a week//lol//talk about Gamestop caring for their part time employees//the only reason he said he is still there is because of the discount he gets on the games and his manager is pretty cool.

Other than that Gamestop is like you said running off the used game section. They do advertise the used game section a lot. For example I bought Dark Sector for the Xbox 360 for $9. The dude was like "you know we have a used Dark Sector for $7 right?" I was like "lol" dude I will take it brand new and he looked at me with a sarcastic face.

Onyxmeth the second closest gamestop is in another state and btw i already bought it from another store, but thanks for the suggestion

#1 is literally impossible.

#2 is is actually possible, and totally BS. The game isn't technically used, but it has been opened. They open one copy of each game and put the case on the wall so people will know they have the game but nobody will be able to steal the contents of each game. If there's only one left, that's the one you get, no matter how fucked up the case might be. It sucks.

Personally, I always make people aware that we only have the shelf copy available before they buy it.  Some choose not to (I never do myself), but most just go, "Hey, if it works..."

#3 shouldn't happen, but it does because of selfish employees. However, I don't remember getting any Banjo pre-order bonuses at our store...

Yeah, pretty much this.

I'm not calling you a liar, but for one and two I just don't believe you.  And if one and two do happen to be true and then three (the only semi-likely one) happens to be true, well, you probably just shouldn't play the lottery, walk outside in a storm, or cross the street anywhere buses might pass through.

And just some reasoning rather than some snarky reply--

  1. As Onyx said, it's impossible.  One of you might have misunderstood the other or someone might have just said the wrong word but you reserved it for the 360.  You can only reserve it for the 360.
  2. Gamestop doesn't give a fuck about scratched disc.  As long as the disc is in one piece they will take it since it cost them pennies to clean horrible discs.  Them actually saying no just doesn't make sense.
  3. It could happen and as long as you can prove you had the preorder you can probably raise a stink at corporate level and get the manager in trouble, but that's about it.

So yeah, sorry, but I'm calling bullshit.
