Forums - Gaming - who here is tired of gamestop

My gamestop is fine as far as I'm concerned. One time they gave me Dark Mirror instead of Logans Shadow, went back the next day, swapped it, and that was it. Good service I'd say, no complains.

no it said new on the case i gave it to the guy and started talking to a friend then he gave me a bag.then when i got home i looked at it and the game was all scratched up(wouldnt even work).i then took it back and he said that i swapped games.oh and i had a edge card so i got a discount on used games

Why would the game say "New" on the case at all? What game was this? Gamestop doesn't put a "new" label on any of their games as far as I know. Also was this game shrink wrapped at all? If it was then the culcprit is actually the manufacturer of the game, not Gamestop.

There is always more to the story when I comes to Gamestop complaint..

when I worked at Gamestop I would have people say: "it's open so it's not New" or "it's open, can I get a disscount"

As long as the game was never played, it's considered New. An open boxed game plays the same as a sealed game. Like when you buy a new Car, you know how many people sat their sweaty ass in those seats before you did.. but the car is still New!.

I came across so much BS when working at Gamestop..

I remember 2 soccer moms coming to the store a couple days after that Janet Jackson (Super Bowl Nip Slip), they were holding Starbucks coffees talking about how "inappropriate" it was that her Nipple popped out, WHILE paying for their kids copy of GTA, I explained that it's rated M for mature... they didn't care.. "why kid won't stop asking for it"... just damn..

I would also have many people coming into with scratched 360 games, claiming they "never touched the 360, the game just got a perfect circle scratch"..

I would say "I'm defecting your old copy for you and giving you a new copy regardless if you moved the 360 or not, because I don't care"

"ok ya, I moved it while it was on"..

lol every f'en time..

I just get sick and tired of Gamestop horror stories (even tho I don't work for them anymore), It's to easy to complain about a store that gives you so many buying / selling options.

Unlike a Wal*Mart, Target, etc: were you just walk in, buy, walk out, nobody in one of those stores talks about games when you go in..

When you walk into a Gamestop, you have Gamers selling you games, and they will express their opinions with you when you buy a game.. and some people just don't want to hear that the game / system they are about to buy isn't the greatest..

So walking into a Gamestop can be like walking into a live game forum..

So true, while being in gamecrazy, i asked clerk for Valykria Chronicles, yet he was pushing me to buy Fallout 3, other kids near him were saying the same thing. I rather just go to the bestbuy to not hear any one's opinion, on anything.

it was on the shelf and it had new game right under the barcode(it was a white sticker).it was xbox live arcade unplugged(i cant get live, and wanted geometry wars).since it was on the shlf so it didnt have the wrap and when they got the game.i was talking to my friend and not paying attention.but when i got home it didnt have the shrink wrap and it was in a white cd case in the case instead of where it was supposed to be

Hmmm...I can see how that's annoying from both ends. It's just things I don't do out of coutesy like bringing empty boxes up to the register instead of just naming the game I wanted to the cashier and sparing them unnecessary work. It also would have forced a notification from them that they had to sell you the store copy, since they would have grabbed it from the wall.

Frankly, it's hard to take a side because on one hand, maybe you're right and they didn't say anything to you. On the other hand you already said you weren't looking, werent paying attention during your purchase, and were in a conversation with a friend at the time, so maybe you were notified and you didn't hear it.

I'm not going to totally justify what happened, because I wasn't there, but it seems like you were a pretty oblivious shopper that day, and that's just something that will naturally lead you to trouble in general in many stores.

i was fine with getting a used copy but a few things annoyed me

1.i have a edge card and i payed with store credit yet they still charged me full price(it said new game on the receipt)

2.it didnt work

3.i took it back later the same day and they said that i swapped the games and told me to leave(that pissed me off)

I did not recived my house of the dead preorder bonus damn it. Anybody here with the same problem?

I never shop at Gamestop unless they have a unique preorder package going for a game I want. I don't understand why people trade in games there. It's a joke. You can put a game up on Ebay and get at LEAST 40%+  more than what you'd get at Gamestop.

I buy all my new games from Amazon, and if it's a rare game I'll head to Ebay.

Person 1: Does Valkyria Chronicles have trophies?
Person 2:  No.
Person 1: Forget it. I'm not buying it.
Person 2: Wait! It's amazing! Unique, charming, drop dead gorgeous... Hello?

Like I said previously, you handing them the game is probably what caused this. What likely happened is that he thought he was handed a used box, so he found you a used copy. The computer is going to ring up the barcode as whatever it really is though. If you were paying attention, you would have caught the mistake before going home. It's really a case of you and the store associate not paying attention to what you're both doing. In my mind, that puts you half at fault.

i went to gamestop about a few weeks back, looking to purchase bioshock for ps3, i went up to the lady at the cashier asked for the game and she immediately told me that she was gonna find me a pre-owned copy (i never asked for one) so i tell her "no i want a NEW one" (why? its a game that they sell new for $39.99 but buy pre-owned for about $8 store credit, but re-sell at $35 cash, $27 profit for a used game) she looked at me strange and i said "yes i know im stupid like that". idk bout you guys but id rather pay the extra $5 for a NEW copy.

i would like to think that i will admit to things if im at fault so i will say i probably should have been paying attention. well i still think that they should have at least taken the game back(i had the receipt).
