im realy REEEAAALY looking foward to playing this .

WOW, some of you dont pay attention.

GG spent most of that time perfecting the KZ2 ENGINE, not the game content itself. The engine is what sucked up so much of the development time. THis is also why Sony poured 60+ million dollars into the game's develoment, the engine.

3rd,2nd, and other 1st party developers will not take nearly as long or cost nearly as much to make a game with this engine.

But where is the evidence for all this? Some speculation from an article without sources, or am I missing something?

I think the real point of this thread is the valid argument that the engine developed by GG is a huge boon to future exclusives of a very high quality. Nowhere is the OP stressing about the multi-platform viability of the engine. Leave it to anti-Sony fanboys to come in and stress that very angle and start bashing the thread. Somethings never change.

Precisely, and that's why the possibilities for PS3 exclusives with this engine are remarkable if you think about it. Funny, people just come in here to trash on this idea, but whatever. Basically, this will be a win for Playstation 3 exclusives. So what's the problem?

Its only good for one generation of consoles and one last generation of games within the console generation before it may have to be scrapped, is that a good enough reason?

Thats all nice, good and lovely. I have a fetish for A,B,C etc.

A. Why would a developer use an engine that excludes the biggest market for shooters?
B. Are there any developers whom you would actually care about available to use this engine?
C. Why would a developer looking for an engine look past UE3, Cry-engine, Source engine etc which are multi-platform to use this one?
D. Any new development starting now wouldn't be seen again until mid/late 2011 at earliest and the PS3s sales are slowing so its a big risk for any developer to make.

A. Unreal Engine is being used for RPG...The Last Remnant...just cuz KZ is a shooter doesn't mean engine will only make shooter games.

B. Yes, those who have been having hard time coding for PS3.  More explanation on D.

C. Did you skip reading about this engine being PS3 exclusive?  BTW source engine is outdated. Valve needs to come with a new engine.  Cry-engine? Try CryEngine2? Does any console game use CryEngine2 btw?  I dont think consoles can handle the CryEngine2.  Maybe a toned down version yes, but not a full blown CryEngine2 you see on Crysis.  I have yet to see a console game that uses CryEngine2. Please dont say FarCry2 uses CryEngine2. It does not use it.  It uses another engine made from CryTek called Dunia.

D. Some developers might have already decided to change the engine mid development, which won't make development as long.  Which mean they may have the story line, character model, maps, items, etc, already made. All that's left for them is to re-code it into the engine.  It's not like they have to start all over and think about how the characters will look, which items will do what, etc.

And why would it only be good for one gen, and even if so, why would that even be a big deal? It's like people are needlessly pulling at straws here. Seriously, there's nothing wrong with this article and what is proposes. @ ocnkng: I agree with you there man, it's quite sad to be honest... :/

he just loves to disagree with anything good going for the PS3.

i was expecting to see some announced games or a developer saying we are gonna make a game using this engine.

but nope it is just baseless speculation that they will use this engine and be a ton of killzone 2 graphics games coming out in the future. waste of my time
