Forums - General Discussion - Arrested Development

I finally broke down and bought all three seasons because I never watched the show in order.

Absolutely hilarious. So many repeating, hidden, and clever jokes in that series. Pure genius, front to back. Even the "For British Eyes Only" storyline, the weakest of the series, had a fantastic payoff at the end. The moment I finished the series, I started over again and I'm halfway through season two.

Best sitcom ever? I'm inclined to say yes.

Hrmm. If I didn't absolutely despise TV from the bottom of my heart, I would consider watching it. Any shows that it's similar to?

Yeah, it doesn't get any better than Arrested Development, and I do mean that literally. I must have watched all the seasons at least 6 or 7 times each, and I'm still catching new jokes.

It makes me feel sick when people say that Scrubs or Seinfeld are better.

If you need proof of its greatness; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367279/ I think its the highest rated TV show on IMDB, or at least it was, last time I checked.

Edit: Actually, it might be the highest rated anything with a decent amount of votes.

You can tell The Office pulled a lot of its style from the show (quasi-reality television cameras), off-kilter, over-the-top character parodies, etc. IMO, it's better than season two of The Office, which is a huge accolade from me.

The best part of the show is really how it constantly weaves in old storylines, yet they never get old. You can watch the same reenactment clip 5 times and it still remains funny.

The show is incredibly clever but you will miss A LOT if you don't pay close attention. Half of the best jokes are happening somewhere in the background at any given moment.

Tobias and the tape recorder has to be one of the greatest television sitcom moments ever. That character is so bloody perfect. I'm not a David Cross fan but he is pure gold in that role.

Alright, nevermind. I've never watched The Office either. I just hate TV too damn much.

If you have a sense of humor, you HAVE to watch this show. While The Office is slightly similar, it's not nearly as clever or intelligent as Arrested Development.

Seriously, the show is unlike anything else I've ever seen on TV. And this is coming from someone who pretty much despises television and has followed 6-7 shows in his entire life (Lost, South Park, Dexter, The Sopranos, and maybe 1-2 others in total).

I fell in love with my girlfriend watching all 3 seasons in a row with her when she got her tonsils out over the summer.

Its definitely the best comedy series i have seen, way better than the popular sitcoms, and its a damn shame it was canceled. The extremely witty writing, and the great acting on display makes it one of my favorite shows.

Never seen it. Is it as good as The Office, you say? I got to check it out, then.
The Office is the best thing I've ever seen. It amazes me how I'm still entertained by it after 5 seasons.
