Forums - Gaming - 2nd Place Wars

By the title you know already what it is all about.

Sony and Microsoft are yealing each other, knifing and so on. All this is  for the... 2nd place this gen!

This is not about who will win the second place, some would say the gap is too much big, some would say the PS3 can make a big comeback with a pricecut, this is determine if such a fight happened back in N64 vs Saturn and Gamecube vs Xbox eras.

Because I really don't remember a mess like this with such sh*t talking from the 2nd placed companies like this gen!

thoughts?

Second place is really just the first loser. But NOBODY wants to be in last place!!

But really, the Wii offers a different experience than the two HD systems. It really is in a league of it's own. I think Sony and Microsoft's battle is more about survival than pride.

I have a Wii and a PS3. Every 60$ I spent on a game for my Wii is less 60$ I spent in a game for my PS3. And vice-versa.

that argument that the Wii is not competing for the same market is just silly excuses from both Sony and Microsoft for seeing an SD console crushing their Hugh Tech systems.

But the thread is not about that.

It's about 2nd place other gen's!

I don't remember Nintendo and Microsoft strugling each other for the second place last gen x__X

I didn't say the Wii wasn't competing with the HD consoles! It's a video game system just like the other two. It offers a different experience. The Wii is in first place. The 360 and PS3 are competing for survival. Neither system has turned a profit yet. They offer very similar experiences. If Sony isn't in the picture, then the 360 is the only place you're going to go to buy Resident Evil 5, Grand Theft Auto, and Street Fighter IV. If the 360 was off of the market, then there would only be one place to buy Final Fantasy XIII, Burnout Paradise, and Soul Calibur.

The Wii is in a league of it's own. Nobody offers games like Wii Fit, Mario Kart, or Mario Galaxy. No other console can. The 360 and PS3 can't make this claim.

I'm pretty sure the 360 has.

Back on Halo 3 releasetimes the entertainment division from Microsoft had good profits.

But I am not shure if those profits were due to Halo 3 epic release or the 360 itself...

All I know is that Microsoft posted huge losses and fired thousands of employees.

I don't think the console itself makes a profit...

wat. They fired thousands of employees, but they'd turned a profit.

I'm unsure if Microsoft made a profit for just the physical year or if they recouped all of the loss for the console launch and the RRoD billion dollar fiasco. I believed that it was just the former and not the latter.

Can someone shed a little light?

I'm not sure, but I really doubt the 360 is profitable overall. Even buried as it is in the entertainment division, I don't see how it could be. It turned a profit for the fiscal year, though.

LOL I would apreciate if people discuss the thread's subject!
