As much as I loved RE4, the review scores were a bit high imo.  It deserves at least a 9, but a lot of the scores from reputable ( ... ) sources were closer to a 10 and that felt like a bit much to me.

 

 

If you think this is hilarious, go over and check IMDB. When the highest movie of all time is rated an 8.9 and in the VG industry 9's and 10's are handed out left and right like candies you know something is wrong. An 8 in the film industry aggregate is enormous, in the VG industry, it's the equivalent of about a 5 in the film industry.

I notice you got quiet, so hopefully the responses by others have clarified things a bit for ya.  The highest scores that you'll see on any single imdb.com rating will be in either the 10's or the 1's.  Its about as relevant as user reviews on metacritic.  I'm really trying to give you the benefit of the doubt on this, but maybe its been a tough day for you.  Reader reviews are basically useless ways of involving web site visitors in the site.  They are not a good judge at all of a product's actual quality.

I don't care how many 8s, 7s, or whatever it gets. The demo was a blast and I'm picking this up day one.

I downloaded the RE5 demo for 360. Graphically it is well above average. Gameplay wise, I wasn't exactly convinced that this title will really go anywhere. But since it is RE it will automagically sell 2 million.

My opinion, is 8-8.5 is where most scores will land. I just felt it was a solid sequel but not exceptional. There was definately ample room for improvement. Left 4 Dead has way better pacing and way smarter zombies.
