This may very well be the most hilarious post of all time. And that's saying a lot. Sorry, man.

As much as I loved RE4, the review scores were a bit high imo. It deserves at least a 9, but a lot of the scores from reputable ( ... ) sources were closer to a 10 and that felt like a bit much to me.

If you think this is hilarious, go over and check IMDB. When the highest movie of all time is rated an 8.9 and in the VG industry 9's and 10's are handed out left and right like candies you know something is wrong. An 8 in the film industry aggregate is enormous, in the VG industry, it's the equivalent of about a 5 in the film industry.

@ drboot: you do realize that imdb scores are just from regular users like you and me, right?

It's harder to keep a high score that way. If you want to compare it to something, compare it to the user ratings on metacritic.

Just because there are many 9 scores that 8 becomes horrible? What?

It's like you're saying that if 99% of a population shares the same opinion means they are the rightful ones. Scores don't go with trends, they are set with standards and yeah, 8/10 = 8/10

You're post would make more sense if it wasn't for the fact that not a single movie ever has gotten a 9.0 or above score in IMDB's history.
