Forums - Nintendo - Monster Hunter 3 won't sell well on Wii!

Didn't all the console versions get released before the runaway success of the portable installments? So how do we know that a console version won't do well now that the series has become a gigantic hit?

 MH2 has been released after the MHF.

@radioioRobert

Nope, MH2 was released after MHF. It's first week was increadibly good compared to previous MH titles on PS2 and MHF on PSP, but somehow it wasn't as successful as MHF after all.

It should sell, between 1 to 1.2 million, lifetime, but it won't touch psp, sales.

Its amazing what kind of thread topics get through the mods these days.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Wasn't it you who that wii would fall to 40% markeshare during 2009?

I will say this again. I don't expect it to sell as good as the PSP games, but it won't do poorly either. 1 million LTD is the minimum in my opinion while 1.5M is the maximum in Japan. I will look into it more when MHG is released.

It's going to be huge. It thus far has been predominantly successful at portables but this will be the version to bring it to the home consoles

Ouch. You just cut right to the heart of it, don't you?

How someone think this game'll sell well on Wii = nonsense?
