Forums - Sony - Folklore... why did this game fail in Japan...

I just finished playing the US demo and now I am definitely getting it. Its truly a great RPG. If your not sure about the game and have a PS3, download the demo, have a friend that has a PS3 and love RPGs, get your rear over to your friend's house and play the freaking thing.

edit: check the sig, decided to update it from 60GB to 80GB

It failed for the same reason it has a 65% on Gamerankings.con

Characters are not asian.
Its not chokobos giant swords and crystals.

Um... No.  I realize this is supposed to be flamebait but...

The Japanese have no problems using other cultures stuff as there own for stories and adopting it as such., plenty of japanese stuff is placed elsewhere.  Also... have you seen the game?  The characters look as asian as any JRPG characters.  As for the giant swords and Chocobo stuff.  That's funny.

I'd guess the reasons Eurogamer gave it a 5.

Which was by the way...

"Folklore turns out to be one part boring adventure game, one part underdeveloped collect-em up, and one part standard dungeon crawl. The only aspect of the game that rises above the mundane is its technical polish and the vibrant creativity with which its imaginary worlds have been created - the vivid luminescence of the Fairy World, or the scratchy, Ian Miller-esque authenticity of the War World for example"

And Famitsu gave it - 8/9/8/8

Yahh typical asian looking jrpg character.

Wasn't he in FFX-2?

See Ya George.

"He did not die - He passed Away"

At least following a comedians own jokes makes his death easier.

He looks more like Otacon to me.

It failed because it was not a traditional jrpg, and it was a new series. Two Big Risks.
