so wait does that means the ps3 sells more software per console than the other two consoles? i dont know if i understand right i am dumb for these things.

That data is a few months old, but let's see what it says.

If we divide the Total Weeks of Ownership by the amount of software sold, then we should get the average number of weeks between new game purchases.  Note that the data is for the Americas only.

For the Wii:

TWO= 726,615,868
SW= 96,404,972

Number of weeks between software purchases= 7.54

For the PS3:

TWO= 306,414,307
SW= 42,770,884

Number of weeks between software purchases= 7.16

For the 360:

TWO= 975,218,977
SW= 126,016,630

Number of weeks between software purchases= 7.74

Conclusion:

In the Americas, through November of 2008, PS3 owners bought a new game about every 7 weeks on average.  Wii owners bought a new game about every 7 and a half weeks on average.  360 owners bought a new game about every 8 weeks on average.

That is very close.  That tells me that all three consoles are selling about the same amount of software after adjusting for differences in time of ownership and install base.

mmm i see so is not a big diference after all but right now it might be diferent.

I agree with what you said in your thread it makes alot of sense actually...

Whoever belives that Microsoft is not in the lead of the Ps3 at the moment because of HALO must be living in a different world...

The reason most people picked up a 360(Including Myself) was to actually have the ability to play Halo 3 at one point...I believe many people picked up a 360 in the first year of its release for that reason alone...NOW thats not saying the 360 does not have alot of good games even better than Halo 3 now available...BUT im speaking of First year sales PRIOR to the Halo 3 release

its the 8mil install base that makes the 360 seem like a software beast

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

I agree that Halo IS the reason to be a Xbox fan, but I don't agree that GT5 prologue or MGS4 will sell gazillions more if the PS3 userbase is bigger. Looking at PS2, MGS3 and MGS2 didn't sell that much with a much bigger userbase. Gears of War 2 isn't selling double of Gears 1 even though 360 doubled userbase since Gears 1

Another point people are missing out is that the Xbox 360 is a dam good console., with lots of good games of all types.

The console market needed another company to knock Sony of the top, like Sony did to sega and nintendo back in the mid 1990s.  If Microsoft didn't bring out the 360, sony would still be selling the PS3 at over £400+ (UK pounds) and the HD console market would stall.

I hope in the future another company comes along and does the same to microsoft.

Zzzzzzzzz.....Zzzzzzzzz.....it's all about profits...everything else is just spin, at this point.

if sony has a larger install base it would sell a whole lot more software and bring a whole lot more profit to them. so they can afford a price cut.
