  1. As Nord said, this isn't gaf and you can mention whatever site you want.  We don't too kindly to you advertising competing sites here or plastering advertising links in your sig, but don't care if you mention other sites.
  2. Ignoring trolls is always the best way to go.
  3. This is the internet-- forums needs some sort of official moderation.  I've seen sites without moderation and sites with user moderation and they both fail miserably.

Oh I thought you weren't allowed to advertise other gaming sites.
Well then the site is VG247. Check the link out if you want to have a laugh.
I actually took part in this one.

Go to older replies if the link doesn't bring you to the beginning.
This one isn't that bad  but it is recent.

Well I Do give links to other sites quite frequently but as the thread was about a specific site I just figured it may be seen as a kinda back door to advertising the site.
I have seen threads locked for mentioning sites depending on context.

The only threads should be locked for a link is if:

  1. It was a link to porn
  2. It was some sort of a trap (think Rock Roll)
  3. It was advertising (as in the person who provided the link gets some sort of credit for every referrel or click)
  4. It was advertising a competing website (and even that one would be iffy)

In your case, you would be showing an example of what you're talking about which is perfectly cool.  It wouldn't even bother me too much if you made thread talking about cool news sites and then supplied a link about VG247.
