Forums - Sony - Low KZ2 Pre-Orders means NO gamespot Midnight Launch! (confirmed)

CoD never had that big of a fan base. no matter how you want to spin it the ps3 improved it.

I wouldn't say COD never had a big fan base...

The original game was a huge hit on PC's and won lots of GOTY awards when it was released in 2003. The sequel was also highly regarded on both 360 & PC and was one of the biggest launch games on the 360. Even with the questionable Treyarch entry in between this success has continued to grow and CoD is probably the biggest FPS series on the market right now.

Just because it didn't have such a long history on the PS3 doesn't mean there wasn't a large fanbase.

It's a store by store basis thing. It's up to the store manager really, he can choose a game that's getting a decent amount of preorders however he needs permission from the district manager and some employees willing to work the hours. Usually when we have around 50 we can get a clear, also if we announce a midnight launch it usually increases pre-order amounts. I wasn't working at gamestop at the time but when i went to the midnight launch there were only 14 perorders for the game, but about 50 other people wanting to pick up MGS4 and 4 lucky people got a MGS4 bundle package.

CURRENTLY PLAYING:  Warframe, Witcher 2

read the post again. isaid THAT big. ps3 gave it 4million extra sales. i dont think 4million people wouldnt have bought the game on PC or 360 if it werent on the ps3.... unless your saying the ps3 cut into the other platform sales and multiplat was pointless

Your post was pretty short & ambiguous so hard to get exactly your point :P

But there were other posts about COD before yours as well which is the reason I didn't directly quote you in the other post.

Well then HOWDY neighbor...lol

I live in Raleigh :D

You could say I'm a Raleigh'er as well haha

I lived off Wake Forest Rd before moving out to Fuquay.  I don't think the store here is having a midnight launch but it's better than you guys up at capital anyway

huh. another Raleigh member. Small world.

As much as I want this game day 1, I'm ordering it from the UK so I won't get it for about 7 days anyway...so oh well=P Even if I really want a game, no game is worth me doing this for anyway. If there was such a game, I would feel the dire need to take a break from gaming for a while, since I work the next morning after every game is released. (Same goes for if I felt the need to take a day off work for a particular game=P)

Zero advertising plus a ridiculous GameStop exclusive demo means that my friends barely even know that this game exists. Out of my friends who have PS3s none have UK accounts and I doubt that they're going to create any to download a demo for what they see as "just another shooter". While Sony should have really pushed this game in North America I just don't see it and it's probably going to be reflected in the sales.

Just preordered at my local Gamestop, and we are indeed having a midnight launch. I asked the store manager how many preorders you need to have one, he just said a good amount. He did say only 3 Gamestops in the area are having one though.

I am a gamer. Not a fanboy, not a troll, a gamer. So when you dont like what I have to say, remember this fact.

Um who Pre-Orders? I mean I never preordered a game...I can usually go the same day and pick it up with no hassle...theonly game I preordered was Halo 3 and GTA 4 and we all know WHY...but all other games um NO...plus Gamestop sucks around my way there are low end game stores that receive early shipments of games usually 2 to 3 days before the "official" release.
