I would argue that Edge is one of the few magazines that is harsh enough.

While other sites seemed to get washed away in hype and "review embargos" and alter there reviews to hit deadlines.

Having the first reviews of "Game X" is going to get you more hits.

Edge is about 10% off the average.

When you consider how hesitant Edge is to giving out 10's vs other sites..... (Other places give out about as many 10's in a year as Edge has year round.)...

ever since I have been on this site, the select few have been numerous...(but then there is more voicefull PS3 fans than others here it seems so that may be why we see these more).

I read the article and found it an interesting read, it's true there is plenty of people that defend the PS3 like their very life depends on it but I think you could replace "sony" and “killzone” with the names of any of its competitors and it would still be more or less correct.

I thought Khuutra's reply was excellent.

One thing I did take offence to in the article was the line

“Oh, and did I mention that Edge is British? (OK, Dutka didn't say that, but the fact is out there and you know that Brits think they're so much better than us Americans.)”

No idea if it was tongue in cheek or not, hard to tell in that article but I thought it was quite ironic since he was talking about the insecurities of Ben Dutka and writes a very insecure opinion about how we “Brits” think of Americans.

Quite observably true. Wow. Ben Dukta has a future ahead of him to say the least.

Personally, I really don't want to own a PS3 after this, I don't want to feel like I'm associated with the current Sony fanbase considering this debacle. That's just me anyways

They do have a point.. They aren't arguing with the issues, just outright saying it's bad.
But seriously, variety sucks, even if they have a (small) point.

@Demotruk:  I think your right, its more than likely tongue in cheek when read in context, it was the line that stood out for me when I first glanced at the article so I guess it placed a bad seed in me .

@Myviewing: I don't how the actions of the mindless few (or many, in the eyes that want to see it that way) would stop you buying a console, I could be out of line here and i'm not attacking you but isn't that a similar sort of snobbery/elitism. If you like the games get the console, there's plenty of people out there who are the complete opposite to the frothing at the mouth sony owners this article describes.

Believe me I don't want to generalize like this, I actually know a few people who own just a PS3 and don't have poles shoved up their crappers. I just get disgusted pretty easily is my problem.

I encountered maybe one or two PS2 extremists last gen, and I have encountered 360 and Wii fanboys before, but PS3 fanboys have been extremely vocal and "holier-than-thou-art" from my personal experience. Of course you probably missed out on the Chadwardden incident (http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=IE&hl=en-GB&v=2fGJowpbxEY), which was one thing that really turned me off at the time.

The article is talking about the reaction to the review, not the review itself.  It doesn't really matter what the review said as long as it wasn't an outright lie.

I'm guessing you didn't read the article too carefully.
