Sony has been showing off a much-hyped early version of God of War III to US press and the first details have scattered across the internet.

Forum goers have posted the info said to be taken from an eight-page preview in the latest issue of GameInformer. There aren't any scans of the copy but it all looks pretty kosher to us.

Here are the details, via GameFAQs:

  • Unlike God of War 1 and 2 where there are only 15 enemies on screen, there will now be around 50 this time.
  • You can ride monsters like the Cyclops and "control".
  • Kratos on the PS2 used 5,000 polygons, now he uses 20,000.
  • They made the weapons "better" so it adds more variety. Like with a different weapon, you don't get just a couple different attacks, but a whole different play style.
  • The lion gauntlets are called Cestus.
  • Enemy AI's are a lot smarter. Some of the enemies will be "commanders" and control the other grunts.
  • Enemies will look different, even if they're the same type. Like, even though the skeleton soldiers are in the same category, they will have varied looks, so it's not like everyone looks the same.
  • More boss fights than GoW 1, but less than GoW 2.
  • No multiplayer.
  • Hades boss fight confirmed.

I don't know where multiplayer rumour came but no multiplayer..

Enemy AI's are a lot smarter. Some of the enemies will be "commanders" and control the other grunts.

I'm over this 'No Multiplayer' shit. Sure it's fun, but who cares - not every game needs to have multiplayer. it's still cool to play single player games :D

       i never played a gow game but it's still good to hear that not everybody's jumping on the co-op/online mp

People need to chill out with multiplayer for these types of games they should be viewed  for there art and story

MP should only be for racing, shooter, and fighting in my opion RE5s single player would of been better giong through it urself

Good news, IMO. I'm tired of tacked-on multiplayer modes (I'm looking at you, The Darkness!). I'll take more spit and polish on the single player experience any day.

I was glad to hear the guys making Wanted: Weapons of Fate also aren't bothering with multiplayer.
