Forums - General - Do multiplatform gamers prefer Wii over PS3/X360?

We have pretty broad group of multiplatform members here so I'd like to take the opportunity of this fact and ask which system do you like the most and why. "I love both system equally" - it's not an answer here. Fact is noone knows better capabilities of each system than lucky multiplatform users. To be honest I expect that most people will chose X360/PS3 but lastly some members (steven787, a.l.e.x59) follow the path on Nintendo. HD is not enough. I'm curious about other members.

There was similar topic already but this one is only about multiplatform gamers. Thanks.

You realize that a few members on a single message board doesn't really represent an accurate picture of this group's opinion, right?

I only own a 360 but I play the Wii and ps3 regularly. I wouldn't choose the wii over my 360 simply because there aren't enough games on the wii I really enjoy but that might change with all the new releases such metroid and umbrella chronicles. 360 ,thanks to its year head start, has the best game library so far. I have so many great game like bioshock, gears, crackdown, call of duty 2 and so forth. Also there are other great games coming for the system such as eternal sonata, blue dragon, two worlds, fable and many more. But if I were to compare the wii to the ps3, I would choose the wii. Ps3 right now dosen't have many games I enjoy. That being said I am looking forward to Uncharted and Killzone and Ps3 library is getting alot better so in the future it my opinion might change.

Why isn't I like both equally an option since, you know, I really do like both my 360 and Wii about equally. I suppose there are times I like my 360 more because of achievements but usually that just makes me think man I wish the Wii had achievements while I'm playing my Wii games but doesn't make me really like my 360 more.

I don't see the point of having a 360 and a PS3, considering the fact multi platform games go on both. WII with one of the 2 next gen consoles sounds the most appropiate combination. To me that is WII and PS3. Unless you don't like Nintendo to begin with, then yeah, maybe a 360 plus PS3 might be the best option anyway :P I like the WII the best, simply because I don't own a PS3 "yet". Still waiting until the Tokyo Game Show ;)

It's the same reason you would have a 360 and a Wii, or a PS3 and a Wii - the exclusives. The Wii isn't for everyone. Some people don't fancy the motion controls, so there would be no point in getting a console that is centered around it. PS3 and 360 get multiplatform games, but it's their first party games that are the biggest draw. There are games I want that will only be released on the 360, as well as games I want that will only be released on the PS3. That's a perfectly good reason to get both.

Then again, I'll eventually have all three consoles, probably. Some people don't have that luxury though.

On topic, right now I prefer the 360. It has the most games that I enjoy.

In the long run in North America and most of Europe I see multiplatform gaming from most popular to least popular as:

  1. Wii + XBox 360
  2. Wii + PS3
  3. Wii + PC
  4. XBox 360 + PS3
  5. XBox 360 + PC
  6. PS3 + PC
  7. Wii + XBox 360 + PS3
  8. Wii + XBox 360 + PC
  9. Wii + PS3 + PC
  10. XBox 360 + PS3 + PC
  11. XBox 360 + PS3 + PS3 + Wii

The fact of the matter is a good 75% of all games on the PS3, XBox 360 and PC are available for at least two of those platforms with only minor differences between them; 75% of games on the Wii are (and will be) drastically different from what is availabe for the PS3, XBox 360 and PC. With its popularity ensuring strong support down the road the Wii will certainly be pretty dominant in the "Second" or "Third" console market.

personally right now i love my 360 because of the library and live. I can see ps3 getting close to it once some good exclusive games come out, and well wii is also up there so yes i do like them all about equal but i prefer my 360 at the moment

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

"I love both equally" sentence is reserved for parent - child relation exclusively.
