Forums - Sony - So I Just Played Valkyria Chronicles for the First Time

Hey all. Been a lurker for some time. I had to sign up and show my support for this game though, as insignificant as it may be! :P

I purchased VC in early december and finally started playing January. Well, I just beat it a few nights ago, and I'm still slightly sad that it's all over. This was a game that had had me feeling bittersweet towards the end. I wanted to see the end, but I also wanted the experience to last as long as possible.

I've been a gamer for a decade now. This is among the best games I have ever played. It caught me by surprise really. I must say, in a sea of 'insert generic FPS' here, this game is bodly refreshing. The artistic style is superb. I thought the story really picked up and I was definitely attached to the main characters. Gameplay was a blast, and it all felt very polished and nearly perfect to me.

Here's copy a blip from my Sega forum post.

"I can't help but feel aggravated at my fellow Americans for purchasing the tried and true aliens invading X world FPS games, or shallow western RPG with mediocre stories over this gem. Oh, don't forget the blood and vulgarity! We all know that constant F-bombs and realistic blood splattered all over the walls makes a game epic! I guess I shouldn't blame them. VC was released at a time when the western behemoths were hitting the market. Being  a niche SRPG and poor advertising in the US definitely didn't help either."

Anyway, I strongly recommend this game to *anyone*. Grab it before you have to scour Ebay and Amazon for marked up copies. Also- The OST is great. Youtube, "Valkyria Chronicles OST - Succeeded Wish ( Without Vocal )" ^^

EDIT: My wish is that we'll see a prequel (Alicia's parents, Gunther, Largo/Varrot/R, EW1) or Arcadia title in the future. With the poor sales though, I guess this won't be happening. Does anyone think another Japanse title in the VC series will be developed? If so, I'll just have to grab it.

Person 1: Does Valkyria Chronicles have trophies?
Person 2:  No.
Person 1: Forget it. I'm not buying it.
Person 2: Wait! It's amazing! Unique, charming, drop dead gorgeous... Hello?

I agree with everything.

It's tons of fun and I'm about to order the OST.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I hope someone brings anime on BRs in the west.

BTW maybe we should start flooding Sega of America/Europe with questions about DLC ?

Or, you can just watch the serie when it comes out via downloaded torrents and then buy it when it's out on BR.

I believe the DLC will hit Europe and the US around mid to late March.

DLC? O_O

The game has been ordered and will arrive in two weeks tops I hope ^^

It's not worth 60$ for me.

I'm holding out for a price drop.

@ destiny blade: good luck finding one, as it is being discontinued in several stores, making it even more scarce to find. And to be honest, if a title like this doesn't warrant 60 dollars, which one is? :-/

My Wallmart is full of copies. If I want it, I'll go there and buy it.

I'm just afraid I won't like it, and money is pretty tight. So I don't want to end up blowing money on it when there are games I'm more confident in like Star Ocean 4. I would have bought it if it were 40$.

I know but I'm not so optimistic to have 100% certainity anyone will release it on BR as the amount of series released that way in West is still pretty low.

Fair enough :)

Can't you rent it for a day or two then and see if you like it?

Or like me, try the demo and then look at the prologue online and then decide? :)
