I really love the detail in the hair, thats something I have real trouble with. You also have an unusual way of progressing through your work, you go through the whole image in layers, whereas most people I know do the outline then work on different sections with a very strong detail, it looks like doing it your way takes longer but pays of with the final result.

It would be great to see a time lapse of you working, just set a camera to take a photo every second or 2 and place it above the paper.

You better be damned sure of yourself if you start on full detail after the outline. I do that sometimes if I feel I'm really working with something and have it nailed. Most of the time, though, I do what you see there. Slow detail overall, followed by more and more detail over the entire drawing.

Putting the Box back in Ninlen!

It looks good... minus the ears.

Ears are a bitch. Ears and hands, so hard to accurately portray. Eyes are simple, which is funny because this piece has none.

Hehe, just take the Matt Groening approach to ears. A "G" in a semi-circle. Sure, it doesn't have the realism... but it works.

You should do a sketch of the monkey. I bet he'd go ape over it.

You own me. I'm a great art critic, but I sure do suck at drawing, painting, sculpting, and the like.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Well then, let's turn this into an art discussion. Name your favorite artist. Mine is a three way tie: Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, and Degas.

I still remember the time I snuck a touch at a Pollock painting. I know I shouldn't have, given my training but I couldn't resist. I just had to touch it. My Lord, it was orgasmic.
