i would have to go with atlus. i do love my final fantasy's but XII jus killed it for me, never have been so demotivated in playing and finishing a game!
besides i love trauma center on my ds and wii and not to mention tactics ogre knights of lodis on the gba, one of my best gba games to date, got me into the whole rpg/strategy genre
SE needs to revamp their efts and come upwith something origional, i guess dq:swords was a start

Nippon Ichi Made Disgaea and Image Pooch or Marvelous Made Luminous Arc But Atlus Brung them to the shelves and that's what we are comparing the quality of games both companies bring to the shelves.
Boycotting the following:
1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.
2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.
3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.
4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games. If that were the case they'd own a PS3.
5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.
6. Boycotts: Their so lame.
Square and Enix were kings on the SNES-PS1, but Atlus is clearly suparsing them since the PS2. Their games are more creative and clever, with excellent art.
I vote for Atlus.

I can't see Atlus winning this. But i'd go for them. Not only are they great developers but they also are great publishers releaseing games that other Japan only companies don't want to release in the US.
I haven't played an Atlus game i've disliked... while I haven't played many post PS1 games SE has made that i've liked. I mean i finally got to play a Robot Wars game without a translation! Atlus sees much smarter with less resources.
