Yeah, it happens. Most of the time though, its when a genre has a good set of games, but then a massive, standard setting games come out for the genre. If its big enough it will overshadow all other games in the genre. Take Madden for exmple.

Madden is not a good example because EA has an exclusive license with the nfl to put their athletes with their game , so if another company wants to make a football game they have to use either nfl legends or fictional characters.

Thats why there isnt any other football game that people buy.

Nope! UT just took 50% of Q3 players, but didn't kill it. After that CS killed them both.
