He has been here for a fairly long time, and he knew the situation.

 

You should far rather ban him than the OP.

I think a FAQ locked on top of this forum would be a much better idea than banning everybody who ask a question that been answered a thousand time, that way you only have to link to it instead of explaining the situation again and again, or turning the whole forum into a wasteland by banning all the ignorant poster.

Sticking a FAQ on top and end of thread about difference between shipped and sold to end-users, then immediately closing the trhread should be enough...
But ban users that after being warned this way start other similar lame threads.
Newcomers are justified in being not well informed on this issue, as all producers always declare shipped numbers and never mention actual sales to end-users.
