Note: I will only talk about Jesus, because Christianity is the only religion I know a fair amount about. Sorry, I just don't know enough about the other religions.

Some of you will know that I am an atheist. But I think the label is kind of unfair. I just simply do not believe in the guy in the sky. Plus I don't like to conform to a set of rules; I decide my own morals. I do not hate religion and I agree with a lot of its teachings (I also disagree with some).

I think Jesus was a great teacher and liberator of his time. His "turn the other cheek" came roughly 2000 years before Ghandi's (another great man) "an eye for an eye". Although alot of his teachings now seem 'backwards', they were very liberal for his time.

Sometimes I wish there wasn't a religion in his name. He deserves to be remembered as one of the greatest teachers/thinkers in human history. He simply doesn't get that respect from the non-christian community.

This thread is just for christians and non-christians to say that they respect/love/worship Jesus. A great liberator/teacher of his time.

Jesus actually does get a lot of respect from other non-christian religions.

Just not always from your average "rank and file." people...

But most jewish people think Jesus had a lot of great stuff to say. Just isn't the Messiah.

While he's treated as a prohpet in the Muslim relgion.

Some views of Hinduism would view Jesus with a lot of respect too....

though this is from the religious aspects.

Jesus is well thought of my most people in the world. Even if he isn't the Messiah, he's still respected, and many Atheists like myself think some of his ideas were wunderbar.

Count me in. Great great man. No I don't think he was divine, but does that matter? I mean it doesn't stop me from respecting socrates, aristotle and plato etc. You can respect someone for what they did even though what they started made as many problems as it solved.
