EA has refused to specify what company CEO John Riccitiello meant when he said that Mass Effect 2 was a “multi-format” title on Tuesday, yet again skirting heavy rumour that the sequel is heading to PS3.

“As John Riccitiello said on our earnings call this week, the game will come to multiple platforms, but we do not have any more details for you at this time,” a senior UK rep told VG247 today.

Speculation of a PS3 version for the 2010 sequel has been off the chart since Riccitiello’s comment in EA’s Q3 earnings call.

The original Mass Effect was a first-party affair and hence, obviously, a 360 console exclusive.

i think EA is working on getting ME1 out on PS3 for this summer so they don't want the ME2 announcement to eat the sales for the first game/or take the attention away from that game.

We'll most likely see it on the PS3 sooner or later.

M$is trying to stop it going to PS3. Sony wants it. EA wants it for the revenue but might be afraid of M$, who knows? Bet there's plenty negotiations (Exclusive DLC for 360, staggered release) going on behind closed doors.

I'll laugh if PS3 gets the sequel and not the original, because save files carry over.

MY THEORY:
so i heard that microsoft had exclusive rights to the franchise for 2 games, 1st one released in NOV. 07... all of a sudden theres a new version supposedly hitting stores including DLC, bonus disc, etc. a year and 1/2 (give or take) later... i believe this new SKU to be what finishes the "exclusivity." watch how quickly EA will announce Mass Effect for the PS3 after this new 360 version hits stores.... ;)

Whilst not owning the Mass Effect IP, Microsoft OWNS THE RIGHTS TO THE FIRST MASS EFFECT!!!!

this rumors still going on? I thought they already confirmed that me2 was going to be 360 and pc? or maybe I was just wasted when I read that somewhere on this site.

E.A. can add a subtitle and some nifty new features(or have DLC on disk) then release Mass Effect:"?????" a month or two before ME2 and then release ME2 3-6 months down the road and both consoles will be ready for ME3. Everybody wins. Kinda like Ninja Gaiden: Sigma though PS3 never got NG2.

I could just be optimistic since this is the ONLY title other than an XBLA title(Braid) that I envy that are exclusive to the 360.

Playing the first one on PC right now, I hope it picks up and stops bugging the hell out of me!
