Heh.  Halo 3 has no CGI. Its all in game engine and it actually looks better in motion than in cutscenes.

Same for Gears of War2...it uses in game engine, but they are polished up in some cutscenes.

A lot of things cant be compared in gifs like this...thinks like animations, shadows, lighing fx, particle fx. These comparisons aren't really valid.

I mean, Halo 3 does 4 player split screen. Any other game here woudl have 5-10 frames per second if it tried to do the same...

 

Since you develop games, I see how we can trust that information.

Well play around with some PC games and tools that calculate frames per second and you wont need to trust me but will have your opinion formed on the matter

There is a reason why halo 3 is rendered in 1152x640 and then upscaled. You don't think they couldn't render it higher considering both killzone 2 and gears 2 are 720p native? Halo 3 certanly doesn't use as much polygons as those games...it does support split screen up to 4 players though as the trade off.

What's the point of this? Aside from half of these pics being cgi and the conduit pics not even including the better ones (probably from newer builds), we all KNEW those high budget HD games would look better.

Note to developers:
If you want to "convince" people that your game is graphical superior, use HD standard textures and animations and then use a crap load of motion blur.

That's basically the impression I got when I saw SpartanFX's "fair" pictures.

Anyway I think:

GT5> KZ2 = or > Gears 2 (depending on what you're talking about) > Halo 3 (which looks damn nice regardless of what anyone wants to believe) > Conduit (which is a nice looking game, but I don't get why the guy where's a suit. trying to recreate a bit of the 007 goldeneye nostalgia?)

GT5, KZ2 and H3 don't have a single CGI shot, so which ones are you talking about?

This is the Halo trademark shot. This is something that Killzone 2 can never hope to match.

GT5 is the obvious odd one out. Why put a racer in and compare it to 4 shooters?

Halo 3 beats The Conduit.

Gears of War 2 and Kill Zone 2 are too close to call. Gears of War 2 wins some areas over Kill zone 2. Kill Zone 2 wins other areas over Gears of War 2.

Just for lulz I would of put Haze in this comparison instead of GT5, use Haze in comparison to Halo 3 and The Conduit.

In comparison to Kill Zone and Gears of War 2, I would put Crysis in just to make it a bit more interesting.

@CGI: Im sorry, its just im incredibly disapointed by the lack of a split screen mode in KZ2. Its something that has really gotten to me, and I can't shake my disapointment in not being able to share it with my friends.
